This could be a good one.

ChunkyMonkey, Aug 24 2019 03:59

Do you perhaps have a website for entry?

DieselnDust, Aug 24 2019 04:41

https://www.entrytim...s/?EventId=6057

Possibly the best marketing with the least obvious entry if you're not on Facebook

Rouxenator, Aug 26 2019 08:17

I'm in. Will be my first time on the long route.

DieselnDust, Aug 26 2019 08:27

will a gravel bike/hard-tail mtb be best suited for the 90km route?

Rouxenator, Aug 27 2019 09:27

A hard tail MTB can ride anything.

Sparki 1, Aug 27 2019 09:37

A hard tail MTB can ride anything.

sure it can......but is it best suited is the question!

Rouxenator, Aug 27 2019 09:53

Well thus far I have yet to come across a ride that is not best suited for mine.

DieselnDust, Aug 27 2019 11:08

It's not a terribly technical route from what I hear so your hardtail should be ideal.

Gravel bike is a no no, its a CSA and WPcycling MTB Commission sanctioned event.

thanks for the feedback. I was just trying to determine if I should take the DS or the hardtail.

DieselnDust, Aug 27 2019 11:17

If I had a hardtail I'd use it for this one

Rode the 90km a week or so ago and for the most part the sand is a none issue, some random spots on the farm roads but for the most it is just your normal top layer to hard-pack.

There is a new additional bit in the beginning that will bypass that crappy sandy section you got before crossing the train tracks.  So besides that it is the single track in the beginning, fast farm roads, those rugged contour lines through the farmland, open fast farm roads again, final single track and then the dash to the Finish line

thanks

ya cant understand that either, compared to last year i think it was in wellington!?

either way this doesn't sound too appetizing so wont be making the looooong journey (-+140kms from home).

Last year the WPXCM champs was the same race If I recall. I missed it because it was poorly advertised only on facebook. This year it is better well known but still not the best marketing. I hate vleisbroek but have to keep abreast of some events

SA XCM champs was Trailseeker Grabouw in July last year. Tiletoria would have been a nicer WPXCM champs IMO but it is what it is

Neil de Wet, Aug 28 2019 10:19

Will there be any late entries on the race day?

DieselnDust, Aug 28 2019 11:42

Best to message them on Facebook. Registration is open on Saturday morning from 6am till 7h45

dannygirl, Aug 29 2019 09:59

Also trying to find out re on the day entries - messages on fb got me nowhere thus far...

DieselnDust, Aug 29 2019 11:03

try WPMTB Commission. Shaun will respond

Rouxenator, Aug 31 2019 07:34

Despite the R360 entry fee (and CSA fee) you have to pay R20 for parking too...
