It will be so awesome to see you there and since you are doing Cape Epic its a no-brainer really. What better way to get you mentally & physically prepared fro the gruelling 8 day Stage race.

One of the toughest one day events I have done, but also arguably the best days out. So much single-track, views, CLIMBS, water points, cramps, CLIMBS, good vibes, great venues and farms, CLIMBS, like-minded folk (with cramps)....did I mention CLIMBS ??

At one stage I actually didn't mind the climbs cause flip all that singletrack almost made me more tired!

I still remember riding with half the skin off my middle finger (ran out of talent on one of the descends) and trying to do the singletrack when that was burning like hell...

Dont do that again.

Waldo is such singletrack minded guy not sure why he would rip the skin off his finger halfway through the race

milky4130, Dec 06 2019 11:17

Exactly  :D

Is your Cape Epic partner joining you?

kwv, Dec 06 2019 11:41

If you love singletrack and like to push your body and fitness to the limit. This event is a must do. I will be on the start line again.

samson99, Dec 06 2019 11:42

Is your Cape Epic partner joining you?

Same here. Arms and hands took a pounding, but will do it again

The best remedy for this is to ride a lot of rough downhill single track so your hands and forearms get used to it, also try not to sit on the brake levers too much. Hoogekraal Cobra & Welvergenoegd comes to mind as well as some Contermanskloof.

To those that have done it last year, a little birdie has told me they have added even more single tracks this year.

Training Tip for the newbies taking on this monster, ride lots of Single track & lots of descents, your arms & hands will thank you.

Two more tips:

1)  Get over your fear of heights - you are gonna be up in the clouds all day long !!

2)  Service your suspension - riding that route with fork that in the first hour turns into a rigid, is not gonna do you any favors :-)

aiyaaz, Dec 10 2019 04:00

If I am still alive after my debut Attakwas 2020 adventure, I will definitely want to try this one out!
