BreedeMTB and TipTrans Trail Run

Saturday, 4 April 2020

Details

It is time for 15th Fine Breede MTB. This event caters for the whole family and we strive to make the day as fun as possible: offering Food Stalls, Potjiekos with Music and a Cash Bar.
Our quirky prize for the winners of the 60km MTB is their weight in wine! The route, unless used by the Cape Epic, is only open once a year and takes participants over rugged mountains, through green vineyards and crossing rivers.
The 30km MTB is known as the toughest on the PPA calendar in its category, so novice riders should rather stick to the 18km. A 5km fun ride is available for young, enthusiastic and future riders.

Pack your balls, this is a proper MTB event. Looking forward to it!

Entered. Fully intend being seeded ahead of gemmerbal, unclipping on the first ascent and dawdling down the singletrack in front of him.

Can't wait!

gemmerbal, Feb 19 2020 03:12

I see I did it in 2017 and commented on Strava that it was super tough, technical and proper MTB. Called it agony and ecstacy.

gemmerbal, Feb 19 2020 03:44

its a lekker race, i'll see you at the start line, then at the finish line, depending on how long you are willing to wait.

This is a lekker one, right in my backyard. If I can manage my work schedule accordingly I'll see you guy's there.

Definitely in for this one. A favourite of mine on the yearly MTB calendar.

I should enter this to force some saddle time as this is not something you do unprepared. Its the only way I am going to start prioritizing some kind of training.

Is there a 30 or a 40km though? I've only ever done the 55/50km ?

Rouxenator, Mar 10 2020 11:16

There is a 30km from what I recall. Last time I rode it I was in the 60km but just recovered from a nasty cold so I downgraded to the 30km.

gemmerbal, Mar 10 2020 11:38

I’ll see you there! 🤘

Ebike friendly ?🤪

gemmerbal, Mar 10 2020 12:00

I did see one or two last year, yes. I don’t care much for their presence, either way. The only issue i experienced was on the tech descent where i got stuck behind someone with a man-powered bike far exceeding the rider’s skillset. I passed on the right when it was safe to do so 😛

Ebike friendly ?🤪

ChrisF, Mar 10 2020 02:46

Enjoyed 2018

LOVED 2019 !! 👍

Hope my rehab is done in time .... even if I can only do the 18km ....

Such a nice event

The route or the other riders?

Your dad riding again ?

Rouxenator, Mar 10 2020 06:03

Yup, he never misses it

xamnam, Mar 10 2020 07:53

I know you secretly love ebikes and you are biding your time to get one.

IF my bio gives me the all clear I will come test the waters with the Blue Beast ... 🤪

Not sure if I should be more scared of the e.haters or the bio ... 🤕😬

Let me put it this way - I ride a hardtail cause I think dualies are for sissies.

Given the example your dad sets, you should have many more miles in your legs 👍

If i catch him on the ebike I may just be too ashamed to try and pass him.

Oom Paul still does the worst 30km event of the season, and beat 5 young riders last year .... and then he was 69 years young ...

would love to this event again to show how poor i am on a mtb etc...sadly i will be away...but a great event...30kms is enough....

Rouxenator, Mar 11 2020 08:45

LOL  :P  Oom Paul is turning 70 in December and I doubt he will switch to a ebike or dualie any time soon.

He still doing OK on his old 1x9 setup (30t x 11t - 40t).
