· By Matt · 0 comments

Day 1 of the 2014 Lesotho Sky kicked off today with riders taking on the TOTAL Time Trial through the Mountain Kingdom’s capital Maseru. The 24km prologue saw riders setting off at 90-second intervals starting and finishing at the Lesotho Sun Hotel.

The course set out some early challenges with plenty of tricky rocky single track separated by tight urban mazes and some fast open road. A final series of rocky climbs and trails took riders back up to the start / finish point.

The Contego duo of Louis-Bresler Knipe and Gert Heyns took the top spot in a blazing time of 00:58:00. Local favourites Teboho Khantsi and Phetetso Monese (Alliance 1) were next in 01:02:01, followed by Mathias Nothegger and Guido Thaler (Craft / Rocky Mountain) in 01:05:36.
