The pursuit of lightness has always been, and shall remain, a key yardstick in road bike performance. Canyon is now proud to unveil the Ultimate CF Evo Disc – the latest, lightest disc brake variant of the Ultimate, one of the world’s most decorated road bikes. At under 6 kg (Size M, without pedals), Canyon’s latest lightweight engineering endeavour is one of the lightest disc brake road bikes ever created.

The Ultimate Evo Disc is built around a 641 gram frame (not including small parts) and a 285 gram fork: parts that push the boundaries of modern engineering. This extraordinary low weight is made possible by using a highly advanced layup that combines ultra-high modulus (UHM) and ultra-high tension (UHT) carbon fibres.

Frame

The Evo’s front derailleur mount is integrated into the carbon construction of the frame for improved aesthetics and further weight reduction. Compared directly with the Ultimate CF SLX Disc, with its aluminium mount screwed into the seat tube, this results in a saving of 7 grams. Fur- ther savings are made at the seatpost clamp; whereas the Ultimate CF SLX Disc uses steel screws and inserts, the application of titanium for the Evo Disc shaves another 3.5 grams. Lighter aluminium through axles (also found on the fork) than on our standard road models also keep weight as low as possible.

Fork

The Ultimate CF Evo Disc adopts the same 11⁄4” steerer tube dimensions as on all Ultimate models, however with a far lighter construction while maximising the cockpit’s tor- sional rigidity for absolute handling precision. Excessive heat build-up and higher forces from disc brakes require the addition of extra material on the non-drive side of the fork and rear triangle. The application of UHM and UHT fi- bres in these areas enable us to keep extra mass to an absolute minimum while delivering the reinforcement needed.

Cockpit

Another product of Canyon’s carbon construction expertise is the CP20 Evo cockpit, which is 15% lighter than the CP10 Aero cockpit, tipping the scales at only 270 grams. The Evo’s one-piece cockpit is comfortable, aero, and looks the part thanks to clean cable integration. Exactly like the frame, the Evocockpit CP20 is constructed using the same UHM and UHT fibres for the perfect balance of ergonomics, aerodynamic efficiency, and stiffness. This is the lightest, most innovative cockpit that we have ever built.

Reduction

In-keeping with the overall concept of the Evo Disc, we’ve taken a radical approach to the bike’s artwork. The brief of “reducing to the max” is successfully delivered through minimal graphic elements that serve to underline the high engineering and design standards we hold ourselves to.

Components

For a truly unique riding experience, the Ultimate CF Evo Disc is also fitted with an array of premium components – SRAM’s latest RED eTap AXS 2×12 drivetrain, HRD disc brakes, limited 25th Anniversary Edition DT Swiss PRC 1100 Dicut db 24 wheels, 120 g Schmolke 1K carbon seatpost, and 61 g Selle Italia C59 saddle. An integrated carbon front derailleur mount, titanium screws, and specially manufactured aluminium through axles shave off additional grams, resulting in the impressive sub-6 kg total weight.

DT Swiss PRC 1100 DICUT 25Y Edition (Wheelset Weight 1283 g)
Launched to celebrate the 25th anniversary of DT Swiss, this is a flagship high-performance disc wheelset. 24 mm rims, aero hubs with SINC ceramic bearings to reduce friction and embossed artwork, their high-level understated finish is the ideal match for the Evo Disc.

Continental Grand Prix TT 25 MM (Tyre Weight 190 g)
With a clincher design engineered for time trials, the Grand Prix TT is hugely popular among the pros even in normal road races. This tyre is engineered for roll fast, requiring less rotational energy thanks to its lightweight construction.

Schmolke 1K carbon seatpost (Seatpost Weight 120 g)
The Schmolke 1K carbon seatpost is made using the best material available, resulting in its stunningly low weight. The post’s highest stressed sections consist of 17 layers of extremely thin carbon fibre prepreg, while its less stressed sections are sufficiently strong with as little as 9 layers. This complex design is extremely advanced and reduces the weight drastically. Exclusive for Canyon, all posts feature extra reinforcement around the seat clamp area.

Selle Italia SLR C59 (Saddle Weight 61 g)
The iconic SLR C59 sets the benchmark in lightweight saddle construction. The Superflow cut delivers a level of comfort unmatched by any other lightweight saddle of its kind, with Selle Italia’s signature SLR forms rounding out a truly beautiful design. The result: a fantastic combination of light weight and strength – and the saddle that pros and ambitious amateurs can savour.

Groupset (Groupset Weight 2518 g)
With wireless 12-speed shifting, this is the most advanced and innovative groupset SRAM has ever developed. Pinpoint, efficient performance and no cables or wires to set up or maintain–it doesn’t get any better. SRAM RED eTap AXS disc brakes deliver powerful braking and an extra level of control in all conditions. The CenterLine X rotor minimises vibrations and guarantees quiet, consistent, and precise performance.
