Lumos is the ultimate bicycle helmet to help cyclists stay safe and visible on the road. With integrated turn signals and automatic brake lights, Lumos has been designed to help warn drivers of a cyclists’ presence and manoeuvres.
Attempting to solve the worldwide problem of safety when cycling on the road and at night, Lumos not only protects the cyclist in the event of a collision, but also works as a preventative measure against them happening. Every year over 49,000 people get seriously injured and over 700 cyclists die while out riding in the United States alone; a large number of them as a result of a collision with a motorist.
Much like a car, the Lumos helmet incorporates automatic brake lights, thanks to an integrated accelerometer. Turn signals are operated wirelessly via a wireless remote, which can be attached to handlebars. These flash the arrow of direction to make a cyclist’s intentions completely clear to surrounding drivers.
With complete water resistance, a micro USB for charging, and CSPC crash safety certification, Lumos truly offers cyclists the chance to be seen and be safe on the road.
Eu-wen Ding, Founder of Lumos commented “As a group of developers and cyclists, we’ve spent a long time trying to create a solution for the countless number of people (including ourselves) who’ve felt invisible or vulnerable on the road. By enabling cyclists to more effectively signal and communicate their intentions to motorists, our hope is that this will better enable cyclist and motorist to cooperate and share the road in a way that will lead to safer roadways for all parties involved. We are really excited to bring Lumos to the Kickstarter community. ”
