Canyon is a name many of us are well aware of, mostly of the fact that they’re not yet available to our market. Having joined the Topeak Ergon squad in 2016, Erik Kleinhans’ new steed is the XC and marathon focused Canyon Lux CF.
Erik and partner Jeremiah Bishop (USA) make up Topeak Ergon Racing 2, intended as a backup team for overall hopefuls Alban Lakata and Kristian Hynek. Unfortunately their chances ended when Hynek was forced to withdraw on Stage 4 as he succumbed to injuries from an earlier crash.
The Canyon Lux CF is equipped with a Rockshox RS-1 and Rockshox Monarch XX providing 100mm of travel front and rear. One of the interesting features on the frame is the rear ‘Flex Pivot’ which eliminates the rear pivot point providing up to 3.5 degrees of flex in the rear triangle. This is said to reduce weight and complexity while improving lateral stiffness.
Naturally, as a sponsor of the team, Erik’s bike is fitted with a number of Topeak and Ergon accessories, including the Ergon GS1 grips and Ergon SMR3 Pro Carbon saddle.
