Winter Gear Guide: Seven jackets to keep you warm and dry

Winter has come. To help you prepare, we have done a spot of armchair research and compiled a list of winter jacket options to keep you warm and dry while riding, at any price point.

We’ve looked at three price ranges, and considered a couple of options within these categories. We focused on items that are widely available in South Africa, so you don’t have to go to the ends of the earth to get them.

Always wondered why (cycling specific) jackets and gilets are not made with rear pockets like cycling shirts are.

Good point. I guess in the wet, they'll become little buckets. Also, they're only meant to be worn in the rain, so when it stops, you take them off. Be a mission if you have things in the back pockets.

Why not little holes with ringed eyelets to drain water.
I use it as a wind breaker too. So not only in the rain.

It's also a struggle to get under my gilet to my snacks
