Cycling South Africa recently took to their communication channels to stress the solid stance that the National Federation has against racism in our sport and country.
The launch of the #jointheteam Anti-racism Pledge received great response from the cycling community and general public who took the opportunity to unite in our stance against racism.

It was deeply unfortunate that South Africa suffered a very sad spate of xenophobic attacks that threatened the lives of many and spread uneasiness across the continent, which was felt by our fellow Africans.
Our recent hosting of the international KZN Autumn Series witnessed the damage the attacks has had on sport in South Africa, and the ripple effect felt throughout the continent. Cycling-rich countries like Morocco, Eritrea and Algeria pulled out of competing in the three prestigious UCI 1.2 events, while Zimbabwe and Namibia expressed outright that they would not attend the competition.
Cycling SA President, Mr. William Newman, reiterates the Federation’s stance towards racism and xenophobia. “Cycling South Africa condemns the xenophobic attacks in the strongest way possible. South Africa is a country for all and cycling is a sport for everyone and all nations are welcome here in our country,” he said.
Cycling SA encourages every single member of the public, but in particular our membership, to take the pledge and continue to unify our country through our sport.
