The inaugural Bike Fest takes place in Cape Town this weekend at the Constantia Sports Complex in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. Billed at Everything Cycling not only are there all the bike brands that one could think of, but also a full schedule of talks, classes and presentations running throughout each day, and on Friday and Saturday evenings, a cinema playing a selection of cycling films.

Come and spend the day at Bike Fest, you can ride demo bikes – from your dream carbon trail bike through to E-bikes and gravel grinders, the team from Tokai MTB has cut some great single track and obstacles at the festival! Exhibiters also have the widest selection of every component, accessory, part and apparel any cyclist could think of. What makes Bike Fest special is that there are no filler stands – every single brand has been selected because they bring a quality product to the festival.

Full day schedule of activities

For those breaks in-between demo riding, shopping and looking at bikes, the cinema area has an ALL DAY schedule of talks ranging from Nutrition for racing, to indoor training, to theft prevention to even riding up Kilimanjaro or gravel bike touring. The schedule is available online, and has a selection of talks for all guests to enjoy whilst at Bike Fest. In-between talks there are also a number of short cycling films and documentaries being played on the huge outdoor LED screen.

As Bike Fest is for the full family, there’s also a kiddies area, and lots of shaded areas to relax, and a full complement of food trucks, beer gardens and treats to eat and enjoy.

Stay for the movies

As the expo and talks close, spend some time until the films start at 7 pm with your friends having a beer, enjoying the food and then we play two films each evening on our huge outdoor cinema screen. From a selection of the latest mountain bike cinematography and films, through to one about riding steel bikes through the Karoo, it’s an evening out for cyclists like none other in SA.
