Guidelines for Bike Hub Classifieds During the Covid-19 Lockdown

· By Bike Hub Features · 1 comment

As we all settle into the Coronavirus lockdown, we’d like to cover some key points about the use of Bike Hub Classifieds during this time…

As a digital business, we’re online and our team is working remotely to ensure the wheels keep turning smoothly. Naturally buying or selling items in the Classifieds under the circumstances is not possible in terms of delivery. We’ve seen a number of forum discussions noting this, some even questioning if we should be “closed”.

Although Bike Hub Classifieds will remain open for listings, browsing and interaction over the lockdown period, no exchange of goods or deliveries can take place.

As much as us cyclists may argue otherwise, bicycles, parts and accessories are not essential goods in the context of the broader issues facing our country. Courier companies will not deliver any non-essential goods and any face-to-face exchange would breach the lockdown conditions. In short, deliveries or meetups must take place when the lockdown ends.

We stand by the decision of President Ramaphosa and ask that all Bike Hub members comply with the lockdown conditions. Stay home and avoid unnecessary contact!

Advice for sellers

The lockdown does create some useful time to dig through your cycling cupboard, garage or bike room to find, clean up, photograph, and list those bikes and other cycling gear you’re no longer using.

Extended listing duration & Wallet discounting

We’ll keep your listing live for sixty days (instead of the usual thirty days) to give it some more “airtime” post lockdown.

For those dealers and power sellers posting and upgrading regularly, Bike Hub Wallet now gives double the added value when you top-up. Get up to 40% added value when you top up. Find out more.

Advice for buyers

As a buyer, we’d suggest adding those items you’re keen on to your Favourites. From there you can easily revisit them later and we’ll notify you of any price drops or changes to its status.

Stay safe in your trading activities and in general.
