New young team ready to hit South African racing in 2019

The all-new Valley Electrical Titan Racing team is ready to take on the year ahead and make the most of this great opportunity.

The team has partnered with Valley Electrical contractors and Titan Racing bikes for the 2019 season. The aim is to provide our riders with the opportunity to compete across the country to gain the experience needed for long term success. The goal is to make this sustainable long term and to potentially grow into one of South Africa’s top mountain biking teams.

We are really excited to have secured Valley Electrical Contractors as our corporate title sponsor for this year and we hope to grow to bigger and better things with this great cape town based company.

Titan Racing will be taking care of all our equipment and accessories. We are looking forward to growing with this innovative company and are proud to be part of this proudly South African brand.

Team goals

The new 4 rider team will consist of a group of young South African talent that will be racing across the country in all major disciplines. (road, XCO, marathon and stage races)

The team will focus on the cross country national series as well as the Nissan Trailseeker series and then some stage races like Tankwa Trek, Gravel and Grape and Wines to Whales to name a few.

The team also has some road racing planned for the year.

2017: SA XCO Champion, represented South Africa at World Champs in Australia.
2018: National Champion for Cross Country, Marathon and Road cycling. Represented South Africa at World Champs in Switzerland.

Marc Fourie

Age: 22

Occupation: Cyclist and coach

Top cycling results:

2016: 2nd place at African Continental Champs
2017: Free State Champ XCO, gained experience in Europe racing World Cups. 1st place Y2karoo Stage Race
2018: 2nd at y2karoo stage race, 7th at Swartberg Gran Fondo, represented South Africa at the Epic World Cup Stellenbosch. Free State XCO Champion.

Jamie Penfold

Age: 17


Occupation: High school student at Paul Roos Gymnasium

Top cycling results:

2015/2016/2017 : 3x Spur Nationals Winner, SA XCM champ (2017), 2X runner up in SA XCO Champs
2018: Represented SA at World XCO Champs, 4th at African Champs

Rossouw Bekker

Age: 19


Occupation: Second-year BBA student at IMM

Team role: Team manager and rider

Top cycling results:
2017: WP XCO Series winner, SA Cup Series – 2nd overall, African Continental XCO Champs – 1st , SA Time trail champs – 2nd , SA Marathon Champs – 2nd, Nissan Trail Seeker Series – Winner (Half marathon), Overall King of the Mountains at the Hot Chillee London to Paris.
2018: (first year u/23): Represented South Africa at the Epic World Cup XCO in Stellenbosch, 4th at African Continental Champs Egypt, Gravel and Grape 2-day Extreme stage race – 1st

The team’s first official race will be the cross country SA Cup at Bloemendal.
