XCO & DH Recap World Cup Lenzerheide: While Jenny Rissveds wins her third XCO World Cup in a row, Nino Schurter sticks to his unlucky second place. DH pilots crash but fight their way back.
Lenzerheide, Switzerland. Jenny Rissveds, the Cross-Country speed queen from Sweden demonstrates her domination in the U23 category with another outstanding victory. Meanwhile, Swiss champion Nino Schurter tried everything possible to capture victory at his home World Cup, but unfortunately failed due to a flat tire.

The Lenzerheide World Cup was marked in red on the SCOTT-Odlo team calendar. Lenzerheide will be a World Cup every year until 2017 and eventually turn into the World Championship in 2018. In Jenny’s case, the hard work payed off. With her biggest rival in the classification missing, she raced to her 3rd World Cup win as if it were a walk in the park.

With the confidence that comes with being crowned the European Games champion, Nino Schurter was looking forward racing on home turf. Not only is the modern race track of Lernzerheide less than 20 km away from his hometown of Chur, it is also seems as if the track was built for Nino. Two laps to go Nino suffered a slow leak in his tire. Still in the lead, he pulled into the tech zone to change his wheel. You can see how fast this was done by checking out the video here:

Downhill race: Steep track, many Crashes, great Show
Brendan Fairclough and Neko Mulally both fought their way into the top 20 after a difficult week with lots of crashes. The DH track in Lenzerheide was steep, short, dry and very challenging. The dusty conditions led to many crashes even among the top athletes.
Brendan and Neko both got banged up a couple of times during practice, and even crashed during the qualifying on saturday. The swiss spectators crowded the whole mountain and got to see a show that only the Downhill World Cup can produce…
After Brendan’s crash in the qualifier, it wasn’t sure if he could race on saturday, but he kept it smooth in the finals, racing to 15th place. The same story for Neko, he placed 18th.
While Neko is now flying home to the USA after 8 weeks on the road in Europe, Brendan will visit the Crankworx festival in Les Deux Alpes, France. The team will reunite for the next round of the world cup in Mont Sainte Anne, Canada, on August 1st.
