Three distances are on offer for mountain bikers on the 17th of August, as well as two trail run distances, to complete an outdoor day in the beautiful Overberg from The Caledon Hotel & Spa – conveniently located only an hour’s drive from Cape Town with panoramic views of the Klein Swartberg Mountains.
With choices of various routes, it gives outdoor enthusiasts from all abilities and ages the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful area. The Overberg region with its stunning scenery, diverse landscape and quiet dirt roads is a favourite destination for families.
The event is also a fund-raiser for the local Round Table charity that will manage the marshals and refreshment stations on the routes to raise funds for their projects with the community. Waterpoints will also have variety of fruit, snacks like jellies and Coke / Powerade.
The 60 km route is a gravel grinder with wide open roads, but it has a section of mountain singletrack a well. The 30km funride everyone can enjoy, and children & beginners will love the 15km. Online entry fees are from R150 depending on the distance.
Pre-entries close on Thursday evening, the 15th or riders can do late entries at the Caledon venue from 7am on event day.
The mid-August date coincides with vast fields of yellow canola blossoms and lush green wheat fields, making for a visual feast not to be missed. The venue is easy to find on the N2 and the name of the event comes from the restorative powers of the hot springs at the hotel spa!
Lots of entertainment at the Casino with surprise draws, kiddies play area, bar, meal stalls and more. All finishers will receive a medal and there are wonderful prizes to be won in the lucky draw. From wine to vouchers to products from Giant, FALKE, Cape Storm and The Caledon.
