SA Team announced for 2016 Road World Championships

Cycling South Africa is proud to announce that the following riders have been selected to represent South Africa at the 2016 UCI Road World Championships taking place in Doha, Qatar from 9-16 October.

National Team for 2016 Road World Championships

Reinhardt Janse van Rensburg
Jaco Venter
Clint Hendriks

U23
Stefan de Bod

Elite Ladies
Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio
Heidi Dalton
Anriette Schoeman
Samantha Sanders
Lisa Olivier
Zanele Tshoko

Junior Men
Devon Short
Damean Oosthuizen
Jason Oosthuizen

Junior Ladies
Nicolene Marais
Lynette Benson

Cycling South Africa’s Road Cycling Commission Director, Bosseau Boshoff said: “This is the first year that we have sent such a large women’s team to World Champs. To have the two Junior Ladies in the team as well will provide such great experience for them, and help us even more to grow and develop women’s cycling in the country.”

The positive is that we are sending twice as many women as men , hopefully they play well as a team and set AMP up for a win.

We can not judge the riders because they do not pick themselves, which also means we can not comment on their results

Yes. The limited squad sizes are entirely dependent upon a Nation's UCI ranking points.

 

Elite men for example:

Flanders gets 10

RSA gets 3

Wallonia gets -1

Seeing as how it is the official press release, One would've thought that they would atleast get the spelling of their cyclists names correct. Who is "Devon Short"?? Am i mistaken or is it not Devin Shortt?? I duno maybe it's just me who finds it quite unprofessional...
