All riders contending for selection to the SA National Road Cycling Team and the Selection Qualification Programme Squad are strongly encouraged to download the document and study it carefully! The document will enable riders to prepare, train and schedule for the upcoming 2017 racing season, and provides clear guidelines and targets for riders to work towards.

The document is available for download here: http://www.cyclingsa.com/s/20161123_CSA-Road-Team-Selection-Criteria-2017-V03.pdf.

While these Team Selection Criteria form an integral part of the Selection Qualification Programme [sQP] of the Cycling SA Road Commission, the Selection Criteria will be used to identify and select riders into the SQP, but riders who are not yet on the SQP are not necessarily excluded from selection. They must, however, still meet the criteria contained in the document. A selection process and panel approval is also required.

Cycling South Africa is determined to re establish itself as the number one ranked nation in Africa.

Cycling SA’s Road Commission urgently calls for nominations for Selectors to fill the positions that are available. These positions are:

  • Convenor of Selectors
  • Selection Qualification Programme Manager
  • Domestique Specialist
  • Climbing Specialist
  • Sprint specialist
  • Transformation Representative
  • Women Representative

The South African Road and Para-cycling National Championships date and venue has been set, and Wellington in the Western Cape is preparing to host the prestigious event from 7-12 February 2017. The venue for the 2017 African Continental Road Cycling Championships is in Egypt, with the dates set for 14-19 February 2017.

For any queries regarding the Selection Criteria, please contact Cycling SA’s Road Commission Director, Bosseau Boshoff, by email coach@infinita.co.za.
