The World Cycling Centre has invited a number of athletes to train at the Centre in Aigle in order to prepare for the 2016 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships under the supervision of their World Cycling Centre Track Coach.

Brown and Abbott were announced as part of the National Team that was selected for the 2016 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships. Identified as future stars, their attendance at the Juniors Pre Camp will further prepare them for the big Championship event, which will be held in Aigle from 20-24 July.

Abbott (Gauteng) claimed five gold medals at the South African National Track Championships at the end of March, while Brown (Eastern Cape) claimed three silver medals throughout the Championship event.

Cycling SA President, William Newman, said: “Women’s cycling continues to be a key focus area for us in Africa, and around the world, and this opportunity from the UCI World Cycling Centre further develops track cycling on the continent. Jessica and Jennifer have been afforded a tremendous opportunity and this is a huge boost for women’s cycling in South Africa. We are very grateful to the UCI WCC for providing this opportunity to our young track cyclists.”
