Gauteng Track Cycling Commissioner, Angela Scullard said: “The weekend’s focus will be mostly on the bunch events. So there is going to be lots of timed, fast-paced, furious racing on the go.”

The commission is encouraging more participation from younger age groups as well. “There is a lot of great work being done on the development side in KwaZulu-Natal, so we’re hoping to see some of those youngsters coming along to take part,” she added.

This is Gauteng’s largest track event, which has been going for close to 30 years, and has seen track cycling greats such as Malcolm Lange and Willie Engelbrecht to name a few.

“We’re looking forward to a great weekend of track action,” Scullard said.

Saturday will see most of the sprint events taking place, and Sunday will have Open Points and Madison events for Elite, Junior and Vets Categories.
