Lyne Components’ revised wheelset offerings include new wheel models and revised versions of previous models.

The main benefits of being a small brand are having the flexibility to react swiftly to customer feedback. After launching our alloy wheels at the beginning of the year and actively listening to rider feedback over multiple disciplines, we have tailored our new wheels to suit the demands of the South African mountain biker. We noticed a strong pull toward 29” and also 30mm internal widths for both Marathon and Enduro.

We have broadened our Pulse range by adding a Pulse 30 Wheelset. This is the perfect marathon wheelset for those looking to get the most out of their tyre setup and for heavier riders.

Weight vs Width

We received multiple requests for a lightweight 30mm wheelset. The Pulse 30 is based on our previous generation AMP 30 wheelset but uses a 28 hole setup rather than 32. It also features a stealthy matt/gloss decal pack.

The Pulse 30 is best used with upward of 2.2” tyres and also provides an increased rider weight limit of 100kg compared to the weight limit of 90kg on the Pulse 25.

The AMP 30 V2 features a revised rim profile moving this wheelset into the Trail/Enduro category. This new profile is slightly heavier and more robust than before making it the perfect choice for heavier riders and those who prefer the gravity side of mountain biking.

Increase Tyre Stability & Traction

The move to a heavier rim profile was made in order to create a larger gap between the AMP and Pulse wheelset ranges. We found most of our AMP 30 V1 wheels were being used on marathon bikes because of the competitive weight, so decided and to create the Pulse 30 to fill this gap, and then tweaked the AMP 30 to be slightly harder hitting resulting in a more Enduro style wheelset.

The AMP 30 V2 still uses the internal width of 30mm which ensures a stable base for large volume tyres and aggressive riding.

Our wheels use Triple Butted Pillar PSR TB2016 spokes which are strong and lightweight. Pillar’s PSR technology allows spokes to be up to 30% lighter without compromising strength. We have paired these with alloy double square nipples to ensure weight is kept to a minimum.

Lyne JB01 hubs are made by Chosen and are lightweight, serviceable and reliable. The sealed cartridge bearing design means bearings are protected from the elements and are easily replaced when worn. JB01 Hubs are available in boost and non-boost options with replaceable end caps to convert between Thru-Axle and QR.
