How long have you been around for and how many stores do you have?
My family started this business in 1915; it's a fourth generation business. We have four specialty cycling stores and a lifestyle store.
How big is your product range in cycling?
Our motto is ‘Bicycles for everyone’. From kids entry level at R799 to R100 000 bikes.
Do you cater for beginners, intermediate or specialist cyclist?
We cater for everyone, young and old. Roadies and Mountain Bikers. Commuters, enthusiast, recreational riders as well as pros.
Do you cater for mainly road cyclist or for mountain bikers as well?
Everyone, although Mountain Biking is more popular. We have fully fledged workshops.
What does your customer look for in a good cycling shoe?
Always a great deal, although style, design, fit and technology are important.
What do you think about the Olympic new cycling range?
Love it, and customers love it. We launched at the Cape Argus and had an overwhelming response. We sold in excess of what we anticipated.
Do you think Olympic cycling shoes offer value for money?
Cyclists say it's comfortable, stylish and affordable. Offering the best value shoe on the market. Sizing is from a junior 3 up to size 13. The Racing Road and the Tread Mountain Bike with the wire system are impressive. They look and feel great.
What is your company doing to promote cycling in South Africa?
We are currently sponsoring the Solomons Primary School Mountain Bike development Series in Gauteng. We hope this will help teach our kids basic MTB skills and grow the sport.
