Bike Fest is open! The cycling festival is taking place at Constantia Sports Complex in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town from 9 to 11 November.
Here is a taster of what you can expect at Bike Fest this weekend:
Bike Fest marketing manager Karlien van der Westhuizen putting a Pyga through its paces on the test track built by Tokai MTB.
The guys are out from Pietermaritzburg! Patrick Morewood and his Pyga team have brought the full range of new bikes, with a full complement of great test rigs.
Italian exotica from the guys at Bike Mob – all the Basso bikes from road to gravel grinders are available to look at, with a few test models from Niner too!
David Mercer and his handmade in Cape Town masterpieces is welcoming as always! A definite must see at the Festival.
Setting up for a full weekend of cyclists – loads of great food trucks, beer, kiddies section and films tonight and tomorrow for all visitors!
YT bikes with a full complement of test bikes for you to try, and we really loved bombing around the test track on this YT
Yeti have a full fleet of bikes to see and test. The SB100 is their latest XC full suspension touted as a trail XC bike.
Already people were enjoying beers and some of the talks and films that had started which play throughout the day. The cinema screen is MASSIVE.
Cannondale has some great bikes on display and to test.
Ibis Cycles are available to test and look at the full range of products in stand including Muc Off
Pave is a name generally associated with high-end custom cycle wear, and they’ve moved into the world of custom cycles – order everything custom, right down to the colours! Definitely worth popping in and looking at.
Gravel biking is huge at the moment, and one of the lust worth machines is the Rondo range from Poland. Full range and test bikes are available.
The street kings of Cape Town are also here! Rook Cycles has their great (and surprisingly super well priced) single speeds and all customised bits available!
Director of the Tour of Ara film, Rick Wall, popped in to preview the film ahead of tonight’s cinema screening (7pm, also playing Not 2 Bad for the mountain bikers!) on the massive screen!
VIVID Bike is a new company offering dedicated tours. They were passionate with Richard explaining the difference between bike choices and some of their amazing tours through the Karoo.
The bike everyone is talking about, the new Giant Trance 29er is available to test at Giant Bikes. Thomas Rood here explaining the difference between the 27,5” version and the new 2019 29er!
Specialized has a full fleet of every bike you could dream to ride! Their Levo’s are available to test and we loved flying around the test track at crazy speeds – the future is here to test.
A newcomer to SA, from the Get Stoked guys, is Pivot Cycles. We cannot wait to take this Trail429 around the track and it’s bigger brother the Firebird.
