This is awesome news. This will bring wireless e-shifting to alot more people.

Just a quick recap for those that do not know. Sram's tier system goes like this:

Sram Red - very light, very expensive

Sram Force - little bit heavier than Red, little bit less expensive

Sram Rival - heavier than Force, less expensive than Force

You could compare Sram Rival to Shimano 105 but remember that this new Rival axs etap is 12 speed with that amazing 10tooth small cog on cassette. This means you can run smaller chainrings on the crank.

Here's a nice review from the GCN guys.

with this being the third tier groupset, I wonder if Shimano will ever release Di2 in the 105 Groupset?

Seems like the logical next step ...

Dura Ace wireless 12/13 speed with current Di2 filtering to 105. :D

That said, while these lower tier options are cheaper, they are slowly moving further and further from the average man's budget.

We may soon be riding Tiagra again ...

I was impressed with Tiagra 10spd, function and feel(its been two years and not a missed shift, even with the 9spd RD)...previously had 9spd tiagra from 2004.

That power meter is a nice step toward a more robust mtb power meter.

Loving the SRAM launches right now

Absolutely nothing wrong with Tiagra ... it's becoming the workhorse groupset that 105 used to be having picked up the trickle down tech.

So only 850g more than 105 and more expensive... OK

Apr 22, 2021, 9:25 AM

Well, 105 is 11spd, mechanical and old tech. You can still buy Rival22 for the same price as the current 105 and its lighter.

Lets see when (if ever) Shimano brings out 105 Di2, what it will cost and what its weight will be. Until then, you are not comparing on the same scale.

Yeah, the Sram needs a weigh bridge, not a scale.

85g or 850g ?

Closer to 900g.

Thats vs a mechanical 105 disc groupset.

The only advantage is the rival goes beep.

It changes gears and stops the bike, just adding 900g. Its a groupset, apples and apples.

Not comparing it to a 105 groupset rim brake with a SI crank.

SRAM lists the groupset weight with the biggest range cassette

Shimano lists weights with lowest rnge cassette.

SRAM lists weight with batteries without cables and hoses

Shimano lists groupset weight without battery and w/o cables or hoses.

not quite apples with apples but generally teh SRAm road electronic group components are heavier. However one needs to consider what the weight difference is of working systems

Mongoose!

Closer to 900g.

Please tell me the rotor's weight is included with this extra kg?
