Matt Posted June 6, 2011 Share Hi Hubbers,This weekend we rolled out a few updates to the Classifieds. Most are subtle improvements and additions, but we've added some new features we'll tell you more about below.Hold on, Something looks a bit odd! Before we get into the details, You might have noticed some styling or layout which looks a bit off. Please remove your Temporary / Cached Files in your web browser to ensure the most recent files are used to style the pages:Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete in your web browser to open the Browsing History windowSelect and delete cached / temporary filesRefresh the page1. Better Management of your adverts, subscriptions and feedbackIn the past it's been a little tricky to manage which ads or categories you've subscribed to to receive email alerts. Hubbers have also mentioned difficulties in keeping track of feedback they've given and received. You can now manage all these from the new My Classifieds area:Manage your advertsEdit, Open / Close, Delete and ExtendManage your subscriptionsCategory and Comment email alertsManage your feedback2. Premium Advert UpgradesThe biggest addition is the premium upgrades. You can now let your advert stand out in the bunch and get more exposure. For a nominal fee you can instantly upgrade your advert. If you're a regular trader or just looking to save you can also buy upgrade Credits at discounted prices to use at your convenience.BUMPHas your advert slipped off the first few pages? Bring it back to the top of the listings!Once bumped your advert will begin to move down the list again as newer adverts are posted.Sticky AdsStay on top! Keep your advert at the top of the list for 7 days.Sticky ads are category specific so your advert will appear at the top of the listing page within it's category and all parent categories (i.e. a sticky in "Road > Wheels" will also appear as a sticky in "Road").Only 3 sticky adverts are displayed at once in any category, if there are more than 3 in any category they are rotated so that all sticky ads get some time at the top.Highlighted AdsStand out from the crowd. Your advert appears in different highlighted colour for 7 days. What if I just want to list a free ad?The listing process is still the same as before and it is still free to list your ad. So if you're not interested in upgrading this doesn't affect you.How do I upgrade my ad?You can upgrade your ad(s) by visiting the My Upgrades page under the My Classifieds section we introduced earlier. You can pay either via Credit Card / Instant EFT or buy upgrade credits. Remember that can save on any upgrades by buying credit bundles and they also allow you upgrade your ads quickly and easily in future. Why are we doing this? There are a few reasons, but the primary one is as an additional revenue stream for The Hub. In order to continue maintaining and improving our beloved Hub we have to ensure that its a sustainable business. We see this as one way of doing this simply by adding a little extra value.3. Tracking new advertsAdverts you haven't seen before are now displayed in a slightly darker colour with a "dot" marker indicating that you've not yet looked at the ad.4. Improved CategorisationWe've improved the naming of certain categories to include the relevant type (e.g. Road or MTB) in order to minimise the number of incorrectly listed items. We've also adjusted the grouping of "Components" and added various subcategories allowing you to further narrow down your search (e.g. derailleurs, brakes, chains & cassettes, etc.).5. Bug fixes and performance improvementsAlong with the updates above we've also done some optimisation which should mean a speedier browsing experience. These include fixes for:- Certain Internet Explorer 7 & 8 compatibility issues- Ability to delete your adverts-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------That's all for now!As usual we'd love to hear your feedback on these updates and the Classifieds in general. If you've got something to say please post a new topic in the Feedback & Support forum.

Minion Posted June 20, 2011 Share I've noticed that if you sticky an ad it still doesn't show up on the classifieds home page. Can you consider changing this or making a separate category on the home page (like the Most recent and Most viewed ones). In my opinion, it doesn't really make much sense to sticky an ad if people then still have to drill down into the individual categories to find it. On a related note, will using a bump cause the ad to move up on the home page or also only on the category pages?
