walkerr Posted December 6, 2013 Share I wish they could just make it 100km. It would score me an extra 2500 Vitality points. Looks like you can claim some anyhow: http://www.99er.co.za/index.php/2-99er-cycle-tour/61-some-exciting-news Tiny K
Tiny K Posted December 6, 2013 Share Dunno if it has been mentioned yet but, that bridge towards Phisantekraal has been closed due to a coal train departing the tracks and ploughing into the bridge... apparently closed for approx. 3 months = detour... Mads Posted December 6, 2013 Share I'm keen for this 1, never done it before but ridden most of that route including the Odendaal Rd climb...can imagine it's quite the heart-breaker at the end of a ride. Legs should be good approaching Argus then too Luc is is simple: Find the steepest hill near your home. From now on ... end all your training rides with a few climbs up that hill. Come raceday.... easy as pie..

G Man Posted December 8, 2013 Share Did a detour this morning on my normal loop to include the last 3 climbs. It's a killer, especially if the south easter is blowing like this morning. Climbing up Vissershok into the wind is not my idea of fun. Average speed dropped by 6km/h in the last 16km. There is NO WAY I'm riding the gravel section in a bunch, much too dangerous the fast downhill with loose patches of sand, stone corrugations and humps/dips obscured by the early morning shadows is a disaster waiting to happen, especially in a bunch. Sincerely hope they grade the road as mentioned before the race and possibly give it a slight wetting the night before.
