MarioH Posted January 29, 2014 Share Or vu could buy 4 Honda Vision scooters (for that price), at 38km's per liter of petrol, you'll be saving money & getting there quick....lol ZakAttak, Super Sywurm and Lexx
Johny Bravo Posted January 29, 2014 Share They are nice, but they are toooo expensive. You can buy better for the money for sure. If you are a high earning professional with money to burn, why not. In our town nobody owns one, they are seen as "windgat " bikes. I like them, but I could never part with my hard earned Randelas for one.
Newboy Posted January 29, 2014 Share I don't think anybody can answer whether it is worth the money for 'you'. We can comment on whether we think it is a great bike or not. I've got a Tallboy LTc and it is a great bike, no doubt one of the best bikes out there. For me it is worth the money. (and mine is specked at quite a bit more than R65k) Ysterman and JoeyK
LazyTrailRider Posted January 29, 2014 Share Honestly? If you need to ask if buying a R65k bike is a good idea, you shouldn't be spending that much to start off with. Why? Because it's clear that you don't know even close to enough about bikes or have enough riding experience to extract the performance a bike at this level offers. Punch me for being harsh, but these are the facts. Vetseun, KENDA, Wet Ears and 13 others
BrandonF_ Posted January 29, 2014 Share Excuse MH, (it short for Moerse Honest Btw) Imho, I'd say a Giant Anthem advance will give you as much pleasure for just over half the price. pierre- and Catatonic_Joe

Or Spez epic with much better components and much lighter. Otherwise save R30k and buy a Anthem. pierre-, ValeYellow, Oufy MTB (Roadie) and 2 others

TALUS Posted January 29, 2014 Share I have a Tallboy (1). I have used it a lot for 3 years. I also have several other bikes (some steel, some carbon, some Titanium), so I feel I can compare. I am a very average rider, so a Pro may disagree with me (as will the rest of the Hub), but I am having my Tallboy repainted because I dont want to replace it. I love it and will buy one again. Sure it may be seen as "windgat" bikes in the Paarl, but so is front teeth.... Nimby, Wet Ears, Bongoleo and 13 others
ValeYellow Posted January 29, 2014 Share rather look at a Momsen VIPA - dont get me wrong, I love the SC, but the cost is just insane. The VIPA I beleive to be a way better value for money product, and will deliver the same amount of riding pleasure. LazyTrailRider Posted January 29, 2014 Share Imho, I'd say a Giant Anthem advance will give you as much pleasure for just over half the price. Quite likely, yes, if you're not sure whether R65000 is worth it. If, on the other hand, you're a suspension nut who's fanatical about the advantages offered by VPP, you actually understand what anti-squat characteristics imply, and low and high-speed compression damping setup makes a difference to your ride, then you may find it very much worth it. If not, an Anthem will be just as good. TALUS
Longtravel Posted January 29, 2014 Share Santa Cruz is an amazing brand. I ride the Tallboy LTC and its by far the best bike i have owned and that includes the other brands mentioned above. My brother is on a Tallboy 2 and I have a few friends riding them and they all love them. Once you have had a Santa Cruz its hard to ride anything else. If you are still unsure take one for a test ride. @Johny Bravo - i don't know what you been smoking but a specialised lighter and better components are is going to cost you a whole lot more than R65k they Sworks epic is retailing for around R110k. Agree, I fly downhills so fast, I don't have time to think about VPP, Compression damping and why my mother-in-law don't like me, so Anthem + R30k saving is good for me Johny Bravo and Sepia
