Is our amigos(leader) José still riding with Bar Ends? Not that I mind, just curious.

And Nino/Philip and the rest of the Scott team - did they standardise on wheel size? could be a problem if they needed to swop from team B and they got mix.

Yes on Amigos, bar ends. (he and his partner), TV presented actually commented on it yesterday. Actually makes sense, he/presented commented that the other guys swapped to wider bars, for better control, but that more XCO benefit, not necessarily Stage/Long distance.

PS: loved the fact that Hermida won the stage yesterday (Might be because my first bike was a Merida, might be because he just decided to ride in baggies last year), was my fav pair to win, after a Evan's and Knox.

Hermida still riding bar ends, but he lost his moustache. Lotsa women teams rolling with 9's. Guess we will see today what wheel size will dominate the rest.

Presenter did comment, one of the top teams are on 27.5

Can't recall which, as you say, will make it interesting, implies their B team should also be, I hope...

Burry “The Kid” Stander will always be remembered in the mountain bike world as a world-class competitor and wonderful person. We lost him, a teammate and dear friend, during a training ride on January 3, 2013. In his memory, Specialized will donate up to $50,000 from the sales of the Specialized Edition Burry Stander Epic to Burry’s beloved charity, www.songo.info.

Thats a good looking machine. Very nice of them to do that. Looks like the bike that Sauser is riding this year?

hehehe,

Well I haven't fitted them to my ride, but also don't see the problem, on a long ride it makes you more comfy, and what ever is wrong with that.

Bar ends on a flat bar have always seemed fine to me

Is there a breakdown anywhere of what brands are being used?

I think Tread magazine had an article or stats. That may be from last year though.

At a glance, Specialized was by far the most popular. Followed by Scott and then Giant, I think.

A lot of the over seas riders had brands that I had never heard of or we don't get here.
