Andrew Armstrong Posted March 31, 2014 Share I purchased a Pinarello Dogma from Cycle Science in Broadacres. Two months after purchasing the bicycle, I was informed when having the bike serviced in Australia that the bike is a fake. When I returned (after buying a genuine Dogma) a week later, I went to Cycle Science and asked for my money back. Their response, I knew it was a grey import. I received an email from Pinarello certifying that the bike Cycle Science sold me is fake. I have attached a picture of the fake frame. You must be morally bankrupt if you can sell a fake frame to someone and send them down a hill at 80km/hr. After closer inspection of the bike it was revealed, handle bars, wheels and even the saddle was fake. You have to wonder how they can stay in business selling counterfeit goods. I wonder how many other people have purchased counterfeit bicycles and accessories from Cycle Science Stuartc, sherriff, udxcob and 6 others
r0adrunner Posted March 31, 2014 Share Yoh... Was the price you paid standard for a Pinarello? You really had no idea that it was a Chinarello?
BogusOne Posted March 31, 2014 Share Hmmm not nice. But im sure before you purchased the bike you did a lot of research on the Dogma? I know I would have. Couldn't you spot the bike was a Cinarello when you saw it? Ill get the popcorn so long.... http://media.giphy.com/media/14qa6jf3Xf6ftu/giphy.gif CleatsnCleavage, TheNewGuy, Iwan Kemp and 1 other

Tjokkits Posted March 31, 2014 Share did they tell you ut was "grey" (which i would read real thing but not imported via sole agents and therefore not supported by agent)? did you pay the normal Pina prices or was this heavily discounted?
Kranky Posted March 31, 2014 Share If it's grey like the shop claims, then it is still a real Pinarello. If it's a complete fake, then they lied to you twice. It's likely still a very good frame. DARK KNIGHT, Marius, Brogue and 1 other
r0adrunner Posted March 31, 2014 Share I bet you loved it while you thought it was real... (There's a big difference between a grey import and fake) Patchelicious, johannrissik, NeillUngerer and 1 other
shaper Posted March 31, 2014 Share If was sold to you as a real Dogma and not as a fake or grey import, then take out a fraud charge against them if you have all the documentation to prove otherwise. r0adrunner and Six13
Maxrider Posted March 31, 2014 Share If the frame is a fake Pinarello then the shop must have known. If they don't know then they shouldn't be selling bicycles. I believe the OP is saying he bought the frame in good faith believing he was buying a genuine Pinarello. He's entitled to his money back if that is the case. nolipoli Posted March 31, 2014 Share Its not like he walked into a dodgy warhouse in Mayfair'.Cycle Science is a well established shop that is (up til now) trusted as being above board. If it is a fake, they must burn. Brogue, CleatsnCleavage, ChUkKy and 1 other
Andrew Armstrong Posted March 31, 2014 Share I certainly didn't know it was a fake before buying it, below some of the identifiers of my fake Pinarello. Loads of stories of horror stories about fake frames, why pay for a respected brand and then accept a cheap knock off.No Serial Number underneath the bottom bracketDifferent Rear Derailleur Hangar.Different seat clampDogma 65.1 is uses 65 ton carbon not 60 as noted on the top tube. The cable ports and cable stops are also differentThe headset is utilising a different upper bearing assemblyThe outer weave of the carbon is quite different much finer. The BB shell is English thread not Italian. The frames decals are notably different to a real one.The made in Italy sticker on the down does not exist on the proper ones. The rear seatstay is a different shape. You hooked up in good faith, it looks and feels like the genuine article but isn't. While you were riding it you felt good , but now that you know it isn't the genuine article you don't have to be satisfied with it. raythorpesa, Bodhi, BogusOne and 4 others
