leona Posted May 28, 2014 Share has anyone tried it? i don't drink at all but having asked around I'm getting the impression that a wine that is a week old when it goes in the bottle isn't going to be terribly nice. i was really hoping that it would be grape juice so i could drink it. before i decide who to pass it on to, i was wondering if anyone has opened theirs? either i give it to someone i like or someone i don't see... Helpmytrap Posted May 28, 2014 Share No wine can be made in a week. My understanding is that the riders of either next year or 2016 will be receiving the bottles made from the pressed grapes of this year? GLuvsMtb
Danger Dassie Posted May 28, 2014 Share Remember going through this release from CE ... “We picked them late last night so that they were nice and cold,” explained Meerendal cellar master Liza Goodwin. “Afterwards we’ll let them ferment for two days and we’ll bottle the wine on Wednesday.”This would require a process to stop the fermentation on Tuesday and the addition of some “normal mix” to make the wine less sweet – the short fermentation period would produce a “sweetish red”.http://www.treadmtb.co.za/absa-cape-epic-riders-wine-route/

G-Unit Posted May 29, 2014 Share I have finished both bottles (mine and my wifes) and they were fine. That said, my standards are very low... Firemeister and G e r h a r d Odendaal

Jaco-fiets Posted May 31, 2014 Share It normally takes a day or 2 before the juice starts fermenting. They basically stopped fermentation by probably adding some preservative or some other way. Effectively they just added a small bit of juice to lower cost bulk wine and stuffed that into a bottle. That is what I call anyway thinking of the timespan they had Edited May 31, 2014 by Jaco-fiets GoLefty!!
