2nd ever SS build: belt drive 9er "Dog walker"

Recommended Posts

So after all the fun I had with my first (https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/134550-first-ever-ssfixi-build/) I decided to build another one, I didn't really plan to actually ride the first build it was design as a dust collector to look cool in the office but it turned out I love riding the thing!!!

Long story made short I need a bike at home to run the dog with as I'm using the wife's bike and it's killing me so I decided to build another SS in the same vein as the dust collector. Slick minimum and cool!!!

I've always loved belt drive as it's rare so after a LOT of buggering around I eventually found a frame I can split in the form of a GT Zaskar carbon, and have begged, borrowed and traded the following parts:I

XL 2012 GT zaskar carbon

Fake 9er fork

Cool looking all black wheels

Race face carbon cranks

Gates carbon drive 46t CDX centre track

Momsen seat post

Ritchey carbon seat post, stem and flat bar

Custom Velobrien seat

XT Ice brake for front - only running front brake

Cool grips

Nice skewers (Allen key)

Schwalbe kojak tyres - 35c

Custom stainless horizontal drop outs

Ritchey headset

Egg beaters (for non dog walking)

Flat pedals for day to day

What I still need:

Belt

Rear cog

Inner tubes

Spray job

More money for paint job!!

Bars

I will get my ass in gear and start taking some pics!!!!

The plan:

I'm getting it all put together and going to ride it a bit to see how it all feels then once I have the bars and stem right then she goes into phase 2.

Phase 2:

Remove ALL cable attachment points

Anodize the rear wheel spacer and possibly the rear cog black

Drill and Run the front right brake hose inside the handle bar through into the stem down the fork and pop out just above the front disk brake to minimize the amount of hose visible (I hate hoses and cables)

Spray the frame, fork, headset, stem stealth flat grey (exact colour still to be finalized)

My logo (avatar) in gloss on the front head tube

Smile and ride my unique "dog walker" !!!

You will never understand!

I know, but that's ok 'cause I'm not even going to try. It makes zero sense to me, uh mean I see people riding next to their dogs and it is an A C C I D E N T waiting to happen. At least you're one up on the ladykugel who lives down my mom's street who drives her dog around the block for walkies time....lead coming out of the drivers window.

But, you like bikes, I like bikes, that's all that really matters in the end. All power to the build.
