Bianchisti Posted April 25, 2015 Share Louis announced himself to the cycling world in September 2013, when he earned the silver medal in the World Under 23 Road Race Championships. Louis had an impressive 2014 season where he rode his first grand tour, the Vuelta a Espana. His best result at the Spanish race was a 5th place on stage 14.[1] In March 2015, Meintjes won the final stage of the Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali, causing him to get the overall victory too. 2010:1st http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG/20px-MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG National Junior Time Trial Championships 1st http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG/20px-MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG National Junior Road Race Championships. 2011:1st Stage 3 Triptyque Ardennaise 2nd National U23 Championship Road Race Championships 2nd African Continental Team Time Trial Championships 2nd African Continental Time Trial Championships 3rd Sint-Lambrechts-Herk 4th Overall Anatomic Jock Race 5th Walhain Road Race. 2012:1st http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG/20px-MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG National U23 Time Trial Championships 1st Fast One 2nd National U23 Road Race Championships 3rd Aubel (Liege) 5th Overall Sea Otter Classic 6th Overall Tour des Pays de Savoie 7th National Time Trial Championships 10th National Road Race Championships. 20131st http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG/20px-MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG National U23 Road Race Championships 1st http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG/20px-MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG National U23 Time Trial Championships 2nd National Road Race Championships 2nd World U23 Road Race Championship 2nd Overall Tour of Rwanda 4th National Time Trial Championships 4th Overall Tour de Taiwan 9th Overall Tour de Korea 1st Stage 5 (TTT) 10th Overall La Tropicale Amissa Bongo 20141st http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG/20px-MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG National U23 Time Trial Championships 1st http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG/20px-MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG National U23 Road Race Championships 1st http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG/20px-MaillotSud%C3%A1frica.PNG National Road Race Championships 2nd Overall Mzansi Tour 1st Stage 2 1st Youth classification 1st Mountains classification 5th Overall Giro del Trentino 1st Youth classification 20151st Overall Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali 1st Stage 4 8th Overall Giro del Trentino 1st http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/07/Jersey_white.svg/20px-Jersey_white.svg.png Young rider classification Edited April 25, 2015 by Bianchisti Mopkop
Bianchisti Posted April 25, 2015 Share Remember the name "Lewis Mandjie". I suspect we will hear it a lot. I particularly hope to hear much of it during a particular 22 days in July. The boy is superstar material. Hope luck is with him and he stays injury free on this promising upward trajectory. The picture tells the story thus far. paul_ct Posted April 25, 2015 Share Awesome! Great to read. [emoji1] Edit: by the way, is it Meintjes or Meintjies? I've seen both but don't know which is right. P.S. looking at some of the pics on the mags above, it must be Meintjes. Edited April 25, 2015 by paul_ct

Wannabe Posted April 25, 2015 Share "Lewis Maincheese" Or as I fondly call him, "Champ"Known him from about age 14. Did a lot of training rides with him in his formative years.A more down to earth and planted youngster you'll go far to find. And yes, he is destined for great things. Tugboat Posted April 25, 2015 Share - Don't forget the 6th place, and young rider jersey in Tour of Oman in 2015. First time been I've really excited about an SA rider since Burry Stander was with us. Provided he remains injury free, I can seriously see him on a grand tour podium within 3 or 4 years. Hopefully MTN can hang on to him.. Wannabe
Bianchisti Posted April 25, 2015 Share Hopefully MTN can hang on to him..This is what I meant with "luck" staying with him. He needs to be in a setup like MTN where his ambitions are prioritised. Like having a team to protect him for 200km and deliver him to the final climb of a mountain top finish. Classic example would be Reinhardt. He was in amazing form when he went to Argos Shimano and I don't blame him for moving but that team had other ambitions that didn't focus on his development. Provided of course MTN keep securing entries to the big races, Louis needs to stay put and keep racing as a leader here rather than a domestique elsewhere. UpShift_Cycles Posted April 25, 2015 Share Said it on a number of occasions... this year Louis will get a offer he cant refuse from the big name teams. MTN is a great stepping stone but he deserves a team that can set him up for the big mountains Edited April 25, 2015 by UpShift_Cycles Mopkop
