Some big changes in terms of the competition rules, scoring, prizes, how to enter and much more...
As usual, the first few posts will be reserved for the intro, rules, teams, riders, entrants and more.
 
The scoring for 2015 has been revised from previous years, in the hope that a more even spread of points can be achieved by all 9 riders and teams. However, for the newbies, the previous editions can be viewed as follows:

How the competition works?
 
Admin has setup an online page where you can select your RIDERS, TEAMS and SUBSTITUTES as well as STAGE SPECIFIC WINNERS (for daily prizes).

 

 
Basic Rules:

• Pick 9 riders from the list of riders taking part;
• Pick 4 teams from the list of teams taking part;
• Pick another 3 riders from the list of riders taking part – to be used as substitutes. Changes can only be made on the rest days, and once replaced cannot be used again.
• Based on the performance of each rider/team, you will score points in various categories.
• Entries close at the time the first stage is due to start – 12:00 (SA Time).
• Entries can only be submitted using the submission form that will be setup by Admin.

Points are awarded as follows:

• Stage points (Daily stages)
• General Classification (Yellow jersey)
• Young Rider’s Classification (White jersey)                                 
• Sprinter’s Classification (Green jersey)                                         
• Climber’s Classification (Polka Dot jersey)                                   
• Team Classification
• Most Aggressive rider                                                                        

Additional points not included above, will be awarded depending on individual rider performance:

• Rider in possession of one, or more, of the race jerseys (yellow, white, green, polka dot, best team);
• Most Aggressive Rider – bonus points awarded if the same rider is awarded this prize more than once;
• Breakaway - depending on number of riders in the break, as well as riders in the break that finish ahead of the peloton.

A full list of the scoring can be downloaded (10 pager). Each stage is graded according to difficulty, with points available increasing according to the difficulty. The difficulty originates from the Tour’s official rule book.
 

DAILY PRIZES

Admin have secured R70,000.00 worth of prizes that will be handed out daily based on your performance on the relevant stages. A very BIG thank you to them for this - it's taken this game to a new level.  :clap:

 

During the online entry process, you will be required to submit the following, in addition to the picks above:

 

• Pick the TEAM who you think will win the Team Time Trial (Stage 9);
• Pick the RIDERS who you think will win stages 01 (Prologue), 10 (Bastille Day), Stage 20 (Alpe d'Huez) and Stage 21 (Champs Elysees).

These picks will have no influence on the main competition, and don't necessarily need to be on your team.

 

The rest of the prizes will be award based on your "Team's" performance on each stage:

 

 

• Stage 2, 8 & 17 - the person with the most points scored on these three stages;
• Stage 3 & 11 - anyone that picked the RIDER that holds the green jersey at the end of the stage;
• Stage 4 & 12 - the person with the most points in the competition, at the end of the stage;
• Stage 5 - anyone that picked RIDER(S) in the break on stages, 2, 3, 4 & 5;
• Stage 13 - anyone that picked RIDER(S) in the break on stages 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 & 13;
• Stage 18 - anyone that picked RIDER(S) in the break on stages 14, 15, 16, 17 & 18;
• Stage 6 & 14 - anyone that picked the RIDER that holds the white jersey, at the end of the stage;
• Stage 7 & 16 - whoever is in last place overall, at the end of the stage;
• Stage 15 & 19 - anyone that picked the RIDER that holds the polka dot jersey, at the end of the stage. 

 

If there is a tie, then there will be a draw to determine the winner.

If the winning rider was not picked, the next rider picked will be used to determine the prize winner.

I've been wrapping my head around the scoring system since July last year and I'm sure I won't get the perfect score   

 

it's all in the hands of Christian Prudhomme and his team... the sooner they announce the details, the sooner the scoring will be updated.
