chaps, outlook running only in safe mode since a windows (7) update a couple days ago. search function is super slow now and basically not functional any more.

 

any ideas?

just give it time, sounds like its updating the database

how big is your email file (how many old emails do you have)?

 

try archiving some of your mails and leave the pc running overnight

Can you roll back before the update? I haven't updated Win 7 for a year because of issues like this...

You need to uninstall this update:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3114409

They have removed it but it is definitely causing the problem.

click start-run type in appwiz.cpl and press enter.

There is a check box to show updates and you will find the sucker in there, just uninstall it and reboot.

wait, the only updates I have on december 9 is "microsoft silverlight" and an adobe update? Do I remove silverlight?

No silverlight wont have anything to do without Outlook.

The updates started from the 5th though and you will probably find it listed as an outlook update rather than a windows one(which will be in the same list)

 

MS has since removed that update from their repo but if it was installed before that time then it doesnt automatically remove from your system.

Just complete a re-load of my Windows 10 system at the office.

 

The whole Office suite just went all ANC government or rather R/$ like

didn't want to start a new thread.

 

 

due to projects/clients/companies etc. I've probably had 10 different emails/accounts over the past decade.

 

am now STUCK on outlook at current setup.

is it just me or is ms outlook still from 2003?

 

all the things i like about gmail just aren't there. and it's not like they are new or giant leaps of faith.

*search function - impossible. so slow, and just doesn't find what i'm looking for most of the time

*addresses - address book is this manual process that hardly works, it's just easier to *remember email addresses (unless you get it wrong, then it's there forever)

 

 

main issue is search, takes forever to find a mail/term you know is there somewhere.

I fkn hate it! it's like i used to date julia roberts and instead now i wake up to julius each morning

 

am i being doff?

I know i can run my account through gmail (use  imap  through afrihost)

or could maybe just learn how to use it properly (if possible)
