I FLY Posted February 24, 2016 Share My Garmin Edge 705 is not holding a charge anymore. Garmin have stopped supporting this model. Does anyone know where else I can go to get this battery replaced? I live in Witbank but go to Johannesburg and Pretoria for business.
TNOSE_E Posted February 24, 2016 Share Garmin will not replace the battery and doubt you will find a replacement anywhere in SA. If you want to continue using the unit I guess your only option currently is ordering an aftermarket one from china... http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Wholesale-GPS-Battery-for-Garmin-Edge-605-Edge-705-1250-mAh-new-free-shipping/1670599747.html?spm=2114.30010308.3.2.9X556Q&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_9,searchweb201644_1_505_506_503_504_301_502_10001_10002_10017_10010_10005_10011_10006_10003_10004_10009_10008,searchweb201560_5,searchweb1451318400_-1,searchweb1451318411_6451&btsid=16499917-a9ea-4065-a54d-f56db88f75dc

scotty Posted February 24, 2016 Share Mate did this a while back, he ordered a Newpower99 kit on Amazon and extra battery $ exchange rate was much better then. Edited February 24, 2016 by scotty

I FLY Posted February 25, 2016 Share Why not find out how much garmin would give you off a new unit if you traded it in? I did ask Garmin. Unit is so old they don't offer any trade in. I guess I am in the market for an Edge 520 now.
Beesrib Posted February 25, 2016 Share Tempting but then I am still in old discountinued technology.ye I know. I have the unit, charger, cadence sensor. The handlebar mount unit broke, so now the 705 is only gathering dust. have not used it in over a year.

Was about to call them, well now I am bleak. My one is on the fritz, a garmin edge 25 may be on the cards. Do not have $ for the 520 at the moment. Thanks for helping. hansolo Posted November 25, 2020 Share Reviving an old thread...A friend recently gave me a 705 that needed a new battery. I started looking into replacements and wasn't keen on importing a battery and going through all the hassles so I replaced the battery with similar item from Communica. We did have to do some soldering and figure out how the pins connect but it booted up.https://www.communica.co.za/products/li-poly-battery-3-7v-1100mahI might loose out on some battery life but at R160 and with a bit of work, I have a 705 running.
