So, got this beaut from my old man this past weekend.

Been standing in a shed for the past 9 years! Old man did 14 Cape Argus's with this thing! :) Want to restore to its former glory as rust has taken over. Hubs, Drive train, Shifters need some tlc but it all still works!

Starting a forum topic for this project as i'm sure I will have many questions for tech and opinions...

Watch this space!

Started with the BIG STRIP last night.

Amazing how complicated modern bikes got... I stripped almost 90% of the bike using just a Philips screwdriver, 8mm Alan key and a 10mm socket wrench! Would have needed a toolbox for a new bike.

Hung and ready to go

  • 4 weeks later...

Made any more progress yet?

No not really. Been swamped at work so spare time has been dedicated to riding :)

Nice work, MtB vintage resto becoming big overseas. Only a small minority of us here. If you need specific spares PM me may have or can point you in the right direction depending on what you need

I wish I had the discipline to work this neatly - nice one!

Shot! Not always this neat, but seeing as some of the components are 24 years old; loosing a bolt can be a pricey and labour intensive process to find replacement... Besides, I'm a rooky mech and learning as I go. Did not even know you have something like a threaded fork up until yesterday!
