T-Bob Posted May 22, 2017 Share So I've been thinking of upgrading the action on my Pike. I've had a couple of tokens in for a bit and played about with the settings from get go to dial in a decent feeling. I've seen that there are couple of upgrades out there and was considering getting behind one and seeing what difference it made. Options are: - Vorsprung Luftkappe: New air piston addition / larger negative air chamber- Daiz systems - The RUNT: Basically a double air chamber that slots in- AWK by Chickadeehill: Another dual. Allows you to set the beginning and ending spring rate separate to each other, very similar to the design of air spring system that Ohlins uses (I think) and can work with a Luftkappe installed as well- MRP Ramp Control So calling all those who know their bouncy bits, calling @Droo and Stoke to wade in, calling @RideRateReview to give a heads up on their Vorsprung that was delivered recently. T-Bob Posted May 22, 2017 Share Luffkappe / MRP ramp control.I edge to the luffkappe. Go over to cogent industries Been heading that way. Might have to pull the trigger on it. Was struggling to find what a MRP was going for here. Think they are about £110 in the UK.

MRP you're in for R 2.5k, Luftkappe is R 1 350. As for which one to go for, the MRP is more versatile but I've had some good reports on the Luftkappes I've installed recently. It really depends on what you're hoping to achieve. I can't really comment on the other 2 since I haven't seen or ridden them yet. T-Bob
T-Bob Posted May 22, 2017 Share It really depends on what you're hoping to achieve. Like anyone... just silky smooth on small chatter at speed, perfect tracking, all the travel used, great support throughout the stroke, ability to take big hits and not pack down / get over whelmed and have great feeling, incredible sensitivity and personally a nice progressive curve which will never bottom out. I'd also like to it add extra courage for my pea heart, give me some additional skills, make me tea, pull a perfect schooner, give me the perfect video segment, make me super fit, sort my terrible style and technique and make me more attractive to beautiful rich women who will keep me in the manner I'm accustomed to while i just ride my bike. openmind, gwhite, Goblin and 3 others
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted May 22, 2017 Share Luftkappe will give you the extra sensitivity over the small stuff, which will also allow you to run slightly higher pressure, which also gives you more support in the rest of the stroke. And it's the cheapest. Take it to Droo. Get it fitted. The End. gwhite and the nerd

Ride Rate Review Posted May 22, 2017 Share I am fortunate enough to have both the MRP Ramp Control as well as recently installing the Luftkappe, as you can see by the video i just released. The mods I have are quite different from one another. The MRP effects mostly the final third of the fork stroke giving you bottom out resistance, the fork feels more linear completely open(because you dont use tokens) and you can set it up using LSC/Comp to firm up or make more plush on the trail. When i ride my HD3 (with the MRP) i often adjust the settings depending on trail conditions, if i know the trail. It offers a bit more versatility because you can control the fork a little more out on the trail. You would need to find the good balance point with pressure & compression though because when you turn up LSC you affect the small bump as well. The Luftkappe on the other hand offers big mid stroke support with a nice ramp up toward the end. I noticed small bump sensitivity because it changes the forks progression quite a bit and allows you to run much less LSC. Of course you can also setup and fine tune on trail but this option is very much fit and sort of forget. The SKF Low Friction Seals also help giving better small bump. If you are bananas about uour fork you could get both the MRP ramp control & the luftkappe, but you would just need to see if your fork is setup for it. I would have thought you could get a similar effect to the Luftkappe by running the MRP cart at lower pressures and higher progression, but your take is that the Luftkappe gives better midstroke support? As for running both, there are very few configurations of the Pike that will allow this - only the 29" 120 and 140 as far as I can tell?
