Letum911 Posted January 24, 2018 Share Anyone else waiting a long time for delivery or is it only me because I live in the sticks ? Ordered early December I have never waited more than about 10 days. However this is always with DHL. What shipping option did you choose?
Organic Posted January 24, 2018 Share If it went via regular mail, that's not unusual. If it went via one of the courier methods, it sounds slow. If you want your order to go via courier and not pay the extra amount, your best bet is to make sure your order weighs more than about 2.5 kg, or is bigger than about 70 cm (I don't remember the exact dimensions). If you still haven't got your order after about 3 months, send CRC an email. They're very good about sorting these things out.
Trackside Posted January 24, 2018 Share I ordered on 8 Jan, it was dispatched the same day and I collected yesterday.I chose the normal free delivery that comes in via SAPO, the shipping email I receied was from TRAKPAK, they were spot on, the parcel was not even in the SAPO tracking system and TRAKPAK showed that it had arrived. Curbie Posted January 24, 2018 Share I run the risk of hijacking the thread but as a 'caution' to those that choose to go the SAPO route ... I also ordered on 06 December, perishables and let's just say even though I opted for the tracking (speedy) service, I only received the package last week Friday and this was the condition of the perishable package ... if only Customer Care would answer a phone call or respond to an E Mail Not to even mention the cost of Vat & Handling Fee which seems to be at a whim BigDL

Still waiting for a reply. And then there was this: my duties and VAT payable for the R10K wheelset was the princely sum of R174. Incredible stuff. Is there nobody in SA that supplies it to save on this type of situation. Always good with SIS to look at buying direct from them as well. I probably get an email every six weeks or so with a 50% off offer. Often get the bigger packages ridiculously cheap. Curbie

I know the local agent personally but I guess same import duty and vat etc. applies and there is always the overhead, profit and retail aspect for local agents. However, should anyone know how to keep it local at a reasonable competitive price - SIS for the Win BigDL
CharlesZ Posted January 25, 2018 Share Had an issue about 3 years ago but tried them again about a year ago for the 1st time and order quite a few parcels since. Longest wait was 4 days. Excellent delivery service nowadays
Christofison Posted January 25, 2018 Share Not CRC, but I ordered some spares from BikeInn in the Netherlands early October. It was shipped one week later, arrived in South Africa three weeks after that, took four weeks to make it to JHB Mail Hub where it sat for 6 weeks before it finally got sent to Durban. Another week and it's still "in transit" between the two hubs. So about 3.5months to get to my post office, where I will likely find out that they want me to pay 40% custom dues, where spare parts should attract 0%. To which I will refuse, write a cover letter, provide invoices and tell them to return it to SARS for correction. So lets call it 5 months. In the mean time I have bought a new bike and ordered parts are no longer compatible. Lesson learned...Support your LBS. After shipping, VAT & customs, it's not even that much cheaper. Not to mention if you invested your money for the 5 months that you had just waited, the LBS option would have actually been more affordable.
