Wahoo Elemnt Bolt accuracy

I recently purchased the Wahoo Element Bolt GPS (without the speed and cadence sensor).

I have found that the accuracy has not been 100%. I think this is due to the unit auto pausing when it looses signal under a tree for instance.

Has anyone else experienced this? Would buying the speed and cadence sensor resolve the issue?

In general I love this simplistic unit and it works really well with syncing to your phone and strava.

This is my Strava activity, where I a met my buddy about 1km from my apartment yesterday:

and then my buddies activity who recorded it on his Garmin Watch.

My Activity should have at least been 3km longer due to me starting at my apartment and meeting at his place.

Let me know what you folks think!

My wife uses the Bolt and I use Strava on my phone.

We do plenty of rides together and they aren't too far off from one another to warrant any concern or buying sensors!.But maybe you have some GPS issues in your area?!

Easiest way to test is to run strava on your phone and also record on your ride on the Bolt.

We're pretty impressed with this unit, easy to use, change displays, sync, etc!

Onedayonly had it for R3.5k and I used R1k eBucks so very good bang for your buck!

Completely agree with above! I paid the same amount on the Black Friday sale. Very easy to use device! I would still like to get other opinions.

I ride with the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt on my bike and Fenix 3 on my wrist. It's a bit of overkill, but I really prefer having the info in front of me while I am riding (mainly HR and for power when I get my power meter).

The distance between the two is usually spot on. Elevation gain is usually a little off however - roughly by 10% I think.

Love my Wahoo. I think it's a value for money purchase, and caters for all my requirements.

Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to show route navigation and the route elevation profile on the same screen?

I've been searching around online, but it's not really clear to me if this can be done. Would be great if someone could post a pic if this is possible!

Has anyone experienced issues with Strava live segments showing that you are ahead of your PR time, but that your end time is behind your PR time?

The segment route profile also doesn't seem to update as I move, but then suddenly jumps forward.

I've experienced this a few times now... First time I missed a KOM by 6 seconds but the Bolt showed I was ahead :(

The bolt calculates the behind/ahead time of a live segment according to overall segment time and distance, not real time effort. So if the kom time had a big acceleration towards the end of the segment, you would only see it on the final time, behing behind at the end like you said. Learn from it and try the segment again???? I believe it is the same with garmin live segments. So it is more a stava issue.

I get what you're saying, but to me it makes more sense to base the ahead/behind time on your segment average pace, like the predicted end time. Without knowing and with little experience I was more focused on the ahead time and less on the end time.
