Event Name: Two Oceans "Wolfpack Hustle" Crash Race
When: 31 March 2018
Where: Forries, Western Cape
Category: Road

A morning for the purists. A battle for the teeth gritters. A chance for the renegades and the Voigts of Cape Town. A race for the rouleurs, the puncheurs and the breakaway artists. A statement for the singlespeeds and big ring riders. A beautiful morning for all who love the sound of freewheel hubs and banter with buddies at first light. Welcome to the Two Oceans “Wolfpack Hustle” Crash Race.

Now in its 5th year, the Two Oceans Crash Race is a race/ride which traverses the two oceans ultra-marathon route while the roads are closed, before the runners start. This is your only chance on cycling Cape Town’s usually busy streets, with absolutely(ish) no traffic or cars, for free. Skip your usual beautiful, blissful slumber and join us at an unthinkable hour for 56km of bicycle riding delight. You might have to set your alarm for 3am, but we guarantee you’ll have a good time.

Start time is 4:15am sharp outside Forresters Arms, Newlands. Compulsory items: A bicycle; helmet; front and rear light; and a post-race beer at Forries.

First Gent and First Lady will receive a rare and highly coveted crash race dog-tag so #bringyourhustle

Will everyone ride together? If so, what speed?

It's a proper race so people will be dropped... speed will be determined by how badly you want to win the elusive dog tag!

Is there a prize if you do this and then the run?

In Joburg there's a "duo" medal for those that complete 947 and 32km RAC Tough One, but these are a week apart. Your times for both events are added together and ranking well is a pretty big deal.

Doing the same here would be very cool

so we ride the route in the same direction as the runners do and do the m3 section too?

I'll shout you a session at the shrink just to find out what demons you are trying to punish!

Howsit Mamil,

We don't do the M3 (we ride the ultra route which doesn't do the M3). Once everyone arrives at forries we cruise down to main road - to the engen garage - and then we ride the main road all the way to Fish Hoek. We'll turn right at the FH circle, and ride towards noordhoek, eventually doing chappies and constantia nek and then we hit rhodes drive back to forries.

Hope to see you there!

hahahaha it's not quite as dumb as 3 weeks ago when I did the BATrun, finished at half past 1 in the morning, had some chow, got an hour of shut eye then lined up at 5am for the start of the Peninsula... Making the most of weekends!
