Johan_Kleynhans Posted July 19, 2018 Share Hi All. I have a Shimano 105 chainring set with a 53/42 set up. I am looking for a 39 inner ring. It is a 5 hole bolt configuration and dates from the late 80's. Any idea where I can buy or swop? Thanks Johan
Dexter-morgan Posted July 19, 2018 Share All depends on what you want to swap for?
HenryS Posted July 19, 2018 Share If you can't find one locally, there are some here: https://www.ebay.com/bhp/shimano-chainring-
Johan_Kleynhans Posted July 19, 2018 Share Well if nothing else I was thinking the 42 ring. If I cannot swop I will have to buy. Here is my problem. Bike dates back to late 80's. I rode it like that until 1999. Upgraded to STI levers and new rims with a 9 block cluster. Cluster is from 18 to 21. Front 53/42. In between I mostly rode mountain bike but want to ride on the rode again. Back then I was strong enough to turn the 42/21 on all the hills I rode on. Now the will is there but the legs suffer. So I need to go to a 39/21 as it looks easier to fix than to look for a 9 block cluster. Thanks Johan

Johan_Kleynhans Posted August 26, 2018 Share Thanks. Came right. My LBS ordered a 39 blade based on the number of the crank. Received it this week and had it fitted. Now I also have granny gears. LOL.
