Might be able to squeeze in 3 or 4 hours early one morning on my upcoming holiday ... anyone got a gpx file of these trails?

I spent a 2 days in Somerset East early January 2020. The Tourism Hub where one is supposed to buy a permit is a ransacked ruin. From what is left it's clear that it must have been the jewel of the town. The trail itself is still rideable but there's no maintenance. Some route markers are still present but as a whole the route can't be navigated without a gpx file. Despite all this it was an enjoyable ride, the eastern section above town contains most of the single track and is worth a visit.

This was my experience of it too when I was there in December '18, Stil had a good time - rode the dirt road over the pass (I forget it's name) and back down again which was a nice workout.

Yes unfortunately it never really got off the ground. The strategy was to create an activity destination as the town isn't on a major route.

But getting people to travel 200km to ride the trails even when at their best proved difficult even though they were great trails. I've often ridden with people who raved about the trails and said they would be back but people have limited time and a weekend away is precious time.

This combined with the fact that there are currently not many cyclists in town meant the trails are not used allot. But even with all the above they are still at about 75% I reckon.
