I was thinking of riding Outeniqua pass as part of a route. Wonder if anybody has ridden that and if it is safe to ride with respect to cars and trucks etc? Bateleur1 Posted December 18, 2018 Share I have cycled from Sedgefield up to the Outeniqua pass but on my last visit to the area last year I pretty much soiled myself on that stretch from Wilderness to Kaimans. It should be ok not riding in peak hours though. Otherwise I would suggest taking the bike by car maybe to the Garden Route mall and start out from there or cycle out towards Knysna which was fine the last time I was there. Just bear in mind I have not cycled those roads in December holidays. That could change your perspective a bit. Coolspin Posted December 18, 2018 Share Emergency lane in that part of the world becomes the slow lane when drivers want to get past other cars, like the whole move over to let the speeders through then they blip their hazards etc to say thx, No way would I be riding in emergency lane in that area. Area being Plett to Knysna to Sedgefield etc. Any time I have driven along there I always thought how dangerous it must be to cycle there, I could be wrong of course, the coathangers all going down there prob doesnt improve the situation. 475 Posted December 10, 2019 Share I'll be joining from the 22nd, albeit from Plett.Still looking for a "back alley" route to Stroms River Mouth - The R102 looks like a viable option for a large portion.
