Sagan provided a master class in how to position yourself for the sprint yesterday. His 17th stage win in the TdS and he now has the yellow jersey

Nice to see Willie Jakobus Smit in the breakaway

Should be good weather for this tour, for a change
Maybe some rain showers on the weekend

Was thinking we need a thread for the Tour de Suisse.  Seems like Supersport is not supporting the Tour, but it is on Inthebunch from 14h00 onward.

Very happy to see Willie in the break and Reinie in the sprint.

He showed a masterclass in pushing Degenkolb off his lead out man and then catching them all off guard when he launched for the line.

1230W for 13s should also win you most sprints.....

Degenkolb could've done a better job defending his position but he left the door open and Sagan came in.. bit of argy bargy from both of them as is the norm in sprinting for position ... there is a nice clip showing the fight for that wheel..

No one man is bigger than the sport

Did Johnny D appeal?

Was reckless racing called out by the commissaires?

Nope... there was nothing illegal and no appeals.

JD could barely hold Stuyven's wheel and that's how that little gap opened just that little that let Sagan in.. JD was just not strong enough yesterday..have a look at the whole sprint.. he couldn't stay on Sagan's wheel either... and let a gap even before Sagan started his sprint .. vivian had to take the short cut over the rougher cobbles to get around JD who was holding him up.

Fair questions, but I didn't see anything illegal from Sagan.

Degenkold was actually dangerously close to headbutting Sagan, so an appeal might not have worked out for him.

All we want is consistency, so if that is deemed legal in this race I hope we don't see penalties in the future for similar physicality. Problem is when someone takes a tumble, it is then when they are forced to act because of the public pressure, much like soccer. At least we won't see dives in cycling, that could be career ending.

In a couple of weeks time in France we will surely have more sprinting incidents and you can be sure that we will not see consistency if you look at the history of penalties there.

Yip, If Neymar was a cyclist most sprints would have ended in a bloodbath.

Johnny D did not appeal but he complained afterwards that he had to fight with Sagan for his own teammate’s wheel and that he thinks it was a little bit over the limit.

Aaah I like JD... but he often complains when results don't go his way, as do many others or most actually. Frustration comes out which is natural I suppose.

For sure... even at recreational level i have seen people being super frustrated and full of excuses after losing a sprint for the 1 379th position :)
