Knersboy Posted July 22, 2019 Share So I am not in the market for a new set of wheels, I think. That doesn’t however stop me from looking around and I must say I have been mightily impressed by Hunt wheels. There was an article on here a few years back, but nothing much since. Anyone riding them? Are they as good as they seem? How did you get them, order online or is there a SA agent? They really do look like great wheels at a good price. In fact in my opinion they are blowing the competition out of the water with their value. A bit like American Classic were, hope they don’t go the same way. Nick Posted July 22, 2019 Share I've also found myself admiring the products on their website on occasion. Are they as good as they seem? How did you get them, order online or is there a SA agent? This is the only question I can answer. They are strictly direct online purchases, so no SA agent. And they have no plans to build a distributor network. There was a user in the classifieds at one stage claiming to be the local agent but when we contacted Hunt Wheels they explained the above. warick_wrx Posted August 16, 2019 Share Hi I don't personally own a set, but did some research on these. They look like a very good option and like you said get very good reviews.Apparently their latest Aluminium 35mm wheel set is the fastest wind tunnel tested alloy set out there. Give them a try I am sure you wont be disappointed !

IceCreamMan Posted August 16, 2019 Share I have a Hunt set on my winter bike. It’s the ally set for fatties set. I bought it as I am a lardy and cos the roads round here are potholed at times, it’s my training bike mostly although have done IM and sportives on it. Wheelset is superb, can not fault them. When compared to the equivalent priced Mavic s etc the Hunts are vastly better at any price point. Offer a guarantee but not been needed. Great wheels and I would buy again. As I understand it Hunt buy components and put them all together, essentially building parts, I do not think they actually manufacture anything but this could of changed. Great wheels, fast, robust and never gone out of true and I have around 5000 kms on them in 2 years of ownership. IceCreamMan Posted August 16, 2019 Share I think he lives in the UK!Yes, I live in the uK. I ordered them from Hunt and they shipped to me. Being in ZA you would not have to pay the 20 percent VAT as well making them cheaper, but you would need to pay ZA vat. Calculus Bikes Posted August 16, 2019 Share Hi, we (CALCULUS BIKES) have been in discussion with them to supply us with their wheels for some of our top end builds. We did lots of research on different options and they are very well ranked. Previous comments is correct in that they dont have a local distributor as they feel they can manage/control service better themselves. Their direct to consumer model is also well oiled with their shipping and support internationally. As for actual riding experience we have very good reports from some UK clients running them for their winter bikes. Our first set (Hunt 30 Carbon Aero Disk) is currently in Jhb customs going to be used on a "aero" frame, so will be able to give some more feedback on riding in the next couple of weeks. Looking forward!! Edited August 17, 2019 by Calculus Bikes IceCreamMan and Mopkop
