Amelia Enslin Posted September 2, 2019 Share Good Day Where in Limpopo ( or a shop that deliver nationwide) can you hire road bikes for specific events and training before hand. So in short, a long term rental solution. Im going to do the 94.7 and am currently training with my mtb (slicks on) but find it heavy. I don't want to buy a bike just for this one event so hiring is the best option for me. If anyone can recommend a shop that does rentals i would greatly appreciate it. Id also consider a good but cheap as dirt bike that fits all the requirements for such a race.
RobertWhitehead Posted September 2, 2019 Share https://bikemarket.co.za/ - quite pricey but well worth it if you do not want to buy

RobertWhitehead Posted September 2, 2019 Share I do have another suggestion: How about you enter some more road races to justify getting a road bike ? I mean this one looks quite nice and will also give you a seeding for the cycle challenge. https://trapnet.co.za/ The other option is to do this one on the mtb and get a feel for the amount of hurt you're letting yourself into come November MDJ

MDJ Posted September 2, 2019 Share I also strongly second the recommendation from Robert to enter at least one road event - in terms of getting some seeding as well as some experience with riding in bunches. If its only one event and you really don't want to spend money - then rather stick to your mountain bike with slicks. In terms of the costs it will probably be cheaper to buy a second hand roadbike on the hub and use that for training and the race - then sell it again. Road bikes are very different animals though in terms of riding position, gearing and brakes. You'll probably be around 2-5 kms faster per hour on the roadbike depending on your fitness - a bit more if you train and learn how to draft properly. Fauret Posted November 5, 2019 Share Any suggestions on a road bike rental for the Coronation Double Century? Carbon 10/11speed - 105 or better.
