Swany05 Posted September 20, 2019 Share Good Morning Ladies and Gents I am toying with the idea of converting the Cotic to a drop bar. Simple enough exercise i know but my issue isnt with the conversion but rather what it will do to the ride position. I have the medium and according to Cotic sizing, Its meant for riders up to 180cm. In the current config its pretty much a perfect fit for me with the flat bar, the reach is spot on and i dont feel like im hunched over too much even though im 183cm Now im worried about the seat to drops ratio, With it being a medium i feel like the riding position will be rather aggressive, That being said the medium is a 56tt and reach of 382.9mm, the large is 58tt and 397mm reach. so only 4.1mm difference. which does not equate to much of a change on paper. Have any of you been in a similar situation? Am i overthinking it or should i just slap on a longer stem and ride it?

I would just do it and see......That 180cm height they refer to covers so maybe different builds, doesn't take into account leg and arm lengths, reach, etc...... Fat Boab Posted September 20, 2019 Share Why not drop Cotic a line with your query. They seem to offer sizing advice?

Shorter stem. the drop bars moves your hand position further away from your saddle. I threw on the shortest stem that I could get hold of, and it worked quite well. Jewbacca Posted September 20, 2019 Share Cotic escapades are big bikes. Drop bars will lengthen the riding position, so you will not need a longer stem. I built mine quite high so I spend most of my time in the drops and only climb on the hoods when I'm punching up something or in a steady rhythm on a longer, drawn out effort. Just slap it together and play with the spacers on the steerer or flipping the stem to see what suits you. I have spare Tiagra 10 speed STi's if you're looking. Got a Spez Secteur in size 58 that was converted to flat bar by the previous owner. Rode it for a while and it felt fine. Later I decided to converted it back to drop bars but wasn't sure what the impact on the reach would be like. Put on a short 35 degree stem and it works just fine for me.... though some might find it ugly... I'm around 1.86m and running a 2nd gen Escapade frame (Large) with a 100mm stem and drops... Setup is very similar to a road bike and can be quite racy, but when you used to it you won't want to go back...
