I have entered for this event as it has been one on the "must do events list" for a while. I would like to know a bit more of the type of trails, elevation, and so forth - but for the love of me I cant seem to find route profiles anywhere? Anyone able to help out? It will also be my first 2 day event, excited AF but also pretty nervous. Do's and Dont's are most welcome. Apart from one or three tight + rocky switchbacks, the trails cater for a very wide field of riders which isn't overly technical, but has a lot of singletrack on offer. I would say that if you are comfortable on the Hemel and Aarde trails, then you shouldn't be caught off guard with anything that's on offer. I see they also are no longer title sponsor for the K2C? Wonder if it is due to the current economic environment or if they are at the end of their sponsor term and simply not renewing? But still at R1600 you could get a shirt, loads of food and the prize giving was pretty mouth watering to hang around for. I compare this with the Simonsberg Contour that i have also done and for roughly R1400(?) you don't get much more than a buff and a few Boss ice teas... This price seems to be par for the course in terms of stage races in the Western Cape. But I don't want to derail this thread into a discussion of which races are better value for money. I saw that there is an event at Paul Cluver this weekend, it's not a timed "race", but a come and experience the trails type of deal. Think entry is R865.00 (somewhere around this mark), and it included a case of Paul Cluver wine, the remainder of 2019 and the whole of 2020 permit fees, and a burger & beer at the end.
