ACE Cycles Posted December 12, 2019 Share This scammer has been around the hub for quite some time and now he has decided to prey on users on Facebook as he did with me. Everything about the deal feels right as he uses his real name to transact without much care about getting caught as he knows that Mommy and Daddy will bail him out. When threatened with laying criminal charges I was promised a refund by the end of the week... (crossing fingers) If you have been a victim then please feel free to contact me and I will gladly share all the info that I have on him Other known aliases:TriladMichael BassonThe Bike GuyDwayne Lackay Dwayne Lackay-Basson Used a Capitec account for EFT payments and also has an ABSA account that I am aware of Known contact details:063 209 8592073 342 7816dlackay088@gmail.com FootballingCyclist and Fat Boab

Patchelicious Posted December 12, 2019 Share Wasn't this same guy that was visited by a Hubber, parents promised to sort him out? He has scammed several people, and nobody has yet gone and laid a charge. THIS is what happens when you do not do your civic duty and report crimes, the criminals just keep targeting more innocent people. Janvil Posted December 12, 2019 Share Hallo My question is not related to Dwayne but similar problem!I bought a Lauf fork from a guy on the Hub, took pictures of the bike that I want to use it on before paying and he said after telling me how he worked in the industry for years and worked at Specialized HQ that the fork will work perfectly. When I received the fork it did not fit my bike at all and after I confronted him about it he just simply said he did not give me advise, even though he did, and that he is not going to give my money back in return for the item! There must be some sort of protection or claim that can be raised against such a person. According to my knowledge the consumer law gives you 21 days to return any item with a full refund even if it is a private person. Can not get hold of him and he refuses to take my calls or messages. Any advise!

Any advise!Unfortunately that is school fees. It's on you to make sure the parts you buy are compatible with your bike. The CPA does not apply to private 2nd hand purchases at all. If he advertised it as for example a boost axle and it was actually a standard axle it would be considered misrepresentarion and you would have a foot to stand on. So in this case you should have checked your bike's specs, eg: it has a tapered steerer and then asked the seller what type of steerer the fork has. PS, I do think what he did is a dick move and warrants at least a terrible user feedback rating. It won't get you your money back but it may stop someone else from making the same mistake. Forgive and forget doesn't work when the person continues on his illegal journeyThat was a few scams back. Since that, Trilad has popped up a few more times on the Hub, and each time the person being scammed has just moved on.

Shebeen Posted December 13, 2019 Share https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/166762-trilad/?p=3107214 admin, maybe merge threads...same deal really.Let us not get distracted from the criminal that is Dwayne 'the Crook' Basson!! Can you smell whether he is cooking Meth?! he needed cash to pay for this amazing ARTWORKhttps://www.instagram.com/p/B5kfcT5l7ON/ illydwHustle until your haters ask if you’re hirinHis parents didn't say what is going on but i got the feeling that mixing with the wrong crowd has gotten this kid where he is now. He had a very bright future and as most of you say it looks like his parents "intervention" (my word not theirs) did not work. The frame (not full bicycle as some think) was posted a while ago but someone made the payment into his account after i brought everything to light to the parents so i dont know if there were more negotiations etc. I know the father did contact me at the same time that Eric (i think) was looking for his money back because i had his bank acc blocked and it seems you can pay money in but can't get any out. (should maybe do that to my own accounts at the end of the month... ) But i have communicated to the bank that i got my money back and i am pulling my fraud charge as i want the other guys to get their money back as well. i think me blocking the account caused a few guys to not get their money back already The father keeps hammering me about the account still blocked but i am sorry his kid was the fraudster and i am not losing sleep over blocking his account. Told him to go to the bank in person with his sona dn go and explain whats going on - but i am sure they wont.
