Long Wheel Base Posted January 22, 2020 Share I need to at least race once before CTCT so will klap the 62km. It is so weird for me to race such a short distance but it is better than nothing before CTCT. soutie18
Long Wheel Base Posted January 22, 2020 Share I see this on the entry page. LOL that is a first.TO KEEP THE PRICE OF YOUR ENTRY LOW YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF PURCHASING A MEDAL AT THE COST OF R20.00 Dexter-morgan and Opc_danny
The Ouzo Posted January 22, 2020 Share I see this on the sight You will be required to produce your valid CSA license or proof of provincial affiliation at registration or you will be required to purchase an event license Does this mean over and above the R370 entry fee I need to purchase a CA license to ride the 116km ? Maybe I should just join LWB and do the 62km then Long Wheel Base and soutie18

I have always had a racing license so it didn't matter but the last 2 years I have not renewed my CSA license at all(so didn't even get a normal license) and I have just paid the day license. Think its R30.I don't think the distance matters though, you will need it for either. EDIT: but would be cool to join me, although I will be on the tandem so we wouldn't start together. Replace all the "license" words with "membership" and it will make more sense. Membership = racing open batches without having to pay for a "day "license" Around R300 a yearLicense = racing Elite of Vets age cats without having to pay for a "day license" Another R400+ a year over and above the "membership" If I knew CSA is going to cock up the SA champs distances, I would not have bothered with taking out a license. Yeah it does make more sense, especially if you not 100% sure. It made sense in my head but admittedly I have paid for so many years that I know how it works. Since I have taken a break from racing I haven't bothered with CSA but I still pay my club fees even though I haven't ridden with them for almost 2 years. buzzboxsa

LOL that is a first.TO KEEP THE PRICE OF YOUR ENTRY LOW YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF PURCHASING A MEDAL AT THE COST OF R20.00 Honestly this race has my favorite medal and I would gladly pay R20 for it. Most other races can keep their medals, or give me a craft beer thanks. soutie18 and Long Wheel Base

I dont do enough races in the year to warrant taking out a year membership, most of the ones I do probably just include it in part of the entrance fee anyway. I've got until 2 Feb to decide if I want to put my body through the pain of the longer race. Long Wheel Base

I was in the same position, the only riding I had done was my commutes which are like 10km each way. But the racing snake in me will always be there and I attacked from the gun. There were 3 of us from there on until 6km from the finish where the eventual winner attacked. We chased but I just didn't have the power to stay on their wheel and ended 2nd. It was short but hard. So although I went into CTCT with the longest ride being 62km it still helped. geomark

Years gone by it was always our tester to see where the training was. R4S times were always very close to CTCT times.

I still stopped and helped an under 16 rider with a tube and tried my utmost to pull him back into some sort of a pack. But I made the mistake of looking at the route profile for the 116 earlier and it made me hesitate. Other than that it is a lekker sub3 if the wind doesn't blow.

scotty Posted January 22, 2020 Share Done the 116 many times, past few years I have done shorter version with a cycle to and from the venue I still get a decent distance. Long Wheel Base
