PjT Posted January 30, 2020 Share HI all, I came across this bomber going for R900, and I am really keen to buy and clean it up/restore it.These were the "bomb" (excuse the punn) in my childhood, so the inner kid in me is jumping up an down. also, I have a 1x year old which will soon be riding with me on the Star seat in front, and I am thinking because of the upright riding position, this might be a very nice bike to take a baby/toddler in front. I don't want to be too optimistic, but other than the surface rust it doesn't look too bad? So, any comments/advice ?! RudoJ Posted January 30, 2020 Share shite this brings back many memories....I matriculated in 1991, in Std 8 (Grade 10) I got a Bomber just like that, just with a 3 speed Sturmy Archer "gearbox". It had this little chain thingy that broke every now and then but sheez i rode the crap out of that bike. Hope you have many safe rides on that beauty Hairy

BuffsVintageBikes Posted January 30, 2020 Share I cleaned up this Western Flyer that was possibly in worse condition. With some time and effort you'll get that old Bomber looking sharp Albatross and Bateleur1
Bateleur1 Posted January 30, 2020 Share I cleaned up this Western Flyer that was possibly in worse condition. With some time and effort you'll get that old Bomber looking sharp Hey I had one just like that. My very first real "racing bike". My dad still bought it from Pick n Pay Hypermarket. Remember how I still rode the bike from there back home. Loved that bike until some retard decided to steal it. Man I cried. Insurance paid out but the bike after that was a load of rubbish. mulmi Posted January 30, 2020 Share Sjoe the memories. Had a bomber just like that. Used it all over Kimberley so long ago. Unfortunately mine was also my first encounter with crime when they stole it outside the town's library. To this day I swear I locked it. Whatsup! Posted January 31, 2020 Share I have just completed a restore on the exact same bike for a friend. Totally worth it.Unfortunately I did not take too many before and after pictures. Albatross and BuffsVintageBikes
Breezer Posted January 31, 2020 Share The original hardtail! No obstacles was to big for us back then. The last one I remember was neon pink, yellow and green.
Dexter-morgan Posted January 31, 2020 Share I did the 947 on the same bike about 2/3 years back, most fun I had in a long time, Just do it.You will notice that brakes have come along way since then, 76km/h on that down one of the downhills on the 947 wasn't fun and very stupid in hindsight.
