sawystertrance Posted March 2, 2020 Share I was caught in a bit of a traffic jam yesterday going up from Constantia to Constantia Nek. Turns out the tragic cause was an accident victim lying in the gutter. No crowd apart from the police directing traffic and wwhat appeared to be the drive of a vehicle which my or may not have been involved and in what I would consider an unlikely spot to be involved in an accident. My mate says he saw a bicycle and that the victim had cycling shoes on. I have not seen anything about this on the news. Anybody know anything about it? Was it an accident? cadenceblur Posted March 2, 2020 Share Thanks for the info, I love the route and option to get to Chappies etc, but don't feel safe in the road, taxis always speeding.
101SCC Posted March 2, 2020 Share Definitely a cyclist, saw the shoes with Look Cleats.Only two traffic guys directing the cars. Did not see any marks, broken bits or chaos, so also thought maybe a heart attack. Felt terrible, nobody ever jumps on their bike not thinking they'll make it home. Noshow Posted March 2, 2020 Share I also rode past. Was definitely a male cyclist. Ambulance, police and a fire engine all there. Paramedics giving CPR. No signs of an accident. Strength to all involved. DJR
sawystertrance Posted March 2, 2020 Share My mate drove past him at 9.15 en route to meet me for breakfast. When I rode past at about 12 he was still there under a blanket. Shocking.. I saw a guy stopped in a car talking to the police and assumed he was the driver of the car involved in an accident but that can't have been the case. No other signs of an accident and it is a strange place in the road for an accident to happen so perhaps heart attack is the answer. Tragic and sudden and no mention of it anywhere else.
